I used to build a queue by hitting shuffle, then thumbs up/down on suggested tracks as they displayed on the right side panel - is there a way to do this in 1.8?

Have you found the queue screen? You get there now by clicking the icon just right of the ‘Next’ button.
There is no way anyone would now that icon means queue unless someone told you.
You’ll find the thumbs there. They will also be on the Now Playing screen.
Thank you, but this seems to be related to Roon Radio, and the last track you played, and whether you like the track or not.
In the previous version, when you hit Artists > Shuffle, you would get one selection, then a panel on the right to build a queue (from your library) using thumbs up/down.
