Hi. I’m considering a Cambridge Edge NQ, which is on special as stocks run down. I won’t be able to audition the unit and will have to buy it online. I’m hoping someone with experience can help me with two quick questions.
First, will a Roon endpoint ‘wake’ the NQ from standby? That is, does the network input remain connected when the unit is in standby, so it shows as an ‘audio zone’ in Roon and selecting it will bring the NQ out of standby?
Second, and this is probably beyond the scope of a Roon forum, will the HDMI Arc input similarly bring the unit out of standby when I turn on the TV, and then control the volume?
I had the 851n and didn’t have any issues connecting to Roon coming out of standby. The same applies to my new EXN100.
When I tried it, the EXN100 does switch to the ARC input when the TV is switched on.
In the end, because I wanted to have the choice of my soundbar or hifi as the audio output, I now connect the TV by optical to the EXN.
This was only because the Panasonic TV got confused when connecting by optical to the soundbar and ARC to the EXN. If I want to use the hifi for audio I manually select the TV optical input using the StreamMagic app.
I don’t if it makes a difference, the Edge has ARC but the EXN has eARC
