Can DragonFly Cobalt be found on NAS router by roon?

Hi,
I’d like to buy AudioQuest DragonFly Cobalt and plug it into the USB on my Synology NAS and router, and make roon to play.

Can DragonFly Cobalt be found by roon, does this idea work?

Nope, that won’t work. At least from DSM 7 onwards

Synology disabled the use of USB audio devices in DSM 7. There was some discussion around it a while back. Some of us even raised feature request cases directly with Synology to have it included, but they flatly refused.

They’re becoming a bit of a closed ecosystem these days. The Rackstations and larger DSMs now only support Synology drives, which isn’t terribly helpful.
