Can not add a track to existing Tidal playlist. Why not?

Hi Benjamin,
yes, you misunderstood the first point and we’re talking in circles for some time now. The simple case is that Roon does not update Tidal playlists, not in Roon (!) and not in Tidal; so why not? It does update, of course, Roon playlists within Roon. When in the Tidal app and adding a track this is updated in Roon, so from this direction it works but it does not visa versa. So my simple question is, again, why not? I would like to be able to use both platforms, with updated playlists on both sides. I’ve restarted Roon server, logged out of Tidal and logged in again but no change. So, summarising: the fact that Roon even in the Roon app itself does not update a Tidal playlist seems to me like a bug, in which I am not the only one… at least, that’s what I assume. The whole thing happens with all tracks, so it’s not at all specific with some sort of track data, if you ask me.

Hi @Paul_Gies,

Thank you for clarifying once again, as the description provided was leading us elsewhere.

Our team wasn’t able to reproduce your issue, any track added to a Tidal playlist from within Roon was also updated on the Tidal app directly.

I will mention that Roon may not be able to match all tracks to TIDAL/Qobuz/KKBOX. Syncing will depend on the availability of the track within the streaming service. Can you confirm the tracks are properly identified within Tidal directly?

We’re still not seeing your Nucleus within your account admin, and so for next steps will need you to again reproduce the issue, share the specific track name, as well as Tidal playlist you’ve attempted to add it to, and then please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader.

Hi Benjamin, well, something (very) strange is happening here; at first adding tracks to ‘Paul’s Playlist’ suddenly worked (!). Then, I tried to remove these tracks cause it was a test. This could not be done. Doing one track at a time it disappears but appears again… Also tried ‘improve’ cause it said there’s a duplicate. After clicking ‘improve’ the track disappeared but it returned. Hope you can see all this in the logs (PaulGies.zip) The last track I tried to add in this logs to ‘Paul’s Playlist’ was Ellen ten Damme (artist) with ‘Hier Encore’ (song). I’ve send you a 2nd logs (PaulGies2.zip) cause now, some minutes later it works again; adding and removing tracks… very curious why. Can you explain this with the help of the logs? Hope so. Tried this also 10 minutes later and it still seems to work now. So, not sure if the problem is solved. Did Roon (or Tidal) change anything?

Hi @Paul_Gies,
Thanks for uploading those logs for us. In your second set of logs l can see the playlist improver and deleting tracks from the playlist to be working as intended. Have you had any further issues with the playlist?

The error that I see in your first set of logs relates to the delete request not being in the correct format.

These errors are abacadabra for me… I’m not responsible for the format, I think. Are you busy with some additional information about this? In the second test I had indeed no issues, but of course do not know why. Hope Roon has or had the answer. I tried the ‘track adding and removing’ moments ago and it still works now so did Roon or Tidal change anything? I haven’t.

Hey @Paul_Gies,

I’m glad to hear things are functioning smoothly for you! It could be the case that Tidal has fixed the specific versions of tracks you were having issues with. We have not pushed any Roon updates on our end (you’d see an update prompt if so :slightly_smiling_face:.)

Happy listening! :drum: :notes:
