I have a Mac OS(MacBook Air-M2) system. I cannot find my Roon core in the Audio section. Yes, I have had the unit serviced by small green computers the unit is a Sonic transport I5. They did all the diagnostics tests. On my network my system recognizes the Sonic transport it will allow me to open up on to the Sonic transport as a guest that’s normal but it does not find the Roon core operating system in the Audio section only shows the Mac . I’ve done like any other end user, I’ve turned it off turned it on, reset what I could reset but it does not find the Roon core. Please help me with this issue.
What does the transporter web UI show?
What exactly do you mean? In settings → audio, you will only see audio devices that are connected to your core: endpoints.
So, if you open the address sonicorbiter.com in a browser, you see a page with all settings related to this machine?
What exactly do you mean? The Roon operating system is only installed on devices like a Nucleus or a nuc with Roon Rock.
Perhaps it is best to show some screenshots of all pages and settings you are looking at.
I’m not sure on how to answer that part of the question I can say that when I go into settings and then set up and click on find Roon OS, the web search has not been able to find my Roon OS device. When I do a search using the manufacturer search.(sonore-sonicobiter) It finds the sonictransport, the web address on my system, the Mac ID, everything except the Roon Core operating system
This is as expected. Your device doesn’t have a Roon OS. Only Nucleus and Rock devices have this.
I also have a machine running the Sonicorbiter software, and I don’t have the Roon OS either.
Okay, so now that you have me going down the right path. How do i get the Roon OS software?
Arlen, also what is confusing is that, I see Roon Server installed on my sonictransporter?
I assume you can play music with Roon… maybe you control it with an iPad or with your Mac. Is that correct?
If that indeed is the case, everything is perfect.
With Sonicorbiter, you don’t need the Roon OS. The Roon OS is an operating system, that lies underneath Roon itself. It’s like using a computer that uses Windows as an operating system. This system itself is very complicated, but you can’t do very much with your computer unless you have programs running on it, like Excel or whatever.
A Nucleus or a nuc with Roon Rock has Roon OS, on top of which Roon itself runs. Roon is what makes your music play, and Roon OS is what makes Roon work.
On your Sonicorbiter, Roon can operate because the Sonicorbiter itself has an operating system. Just like you can run Roon on a Windows computer or on a Mac, that also have their own operating systems.
So: don’t worry. Are you playing your music and are you enjoying Roon? Then all is O.K.
here are some screen shots of what I have in my Roon System. I hope some one can help solve this issue>
You seem to be playing your music through your Mac. Is this Mac connected to an amplifier or DAC? Or does it have its own speakers? Do you hear anything?
I think there is a little confusion here about how Roon works and how Sonicorbiter works. Your devices seem to be alright, there is nothing wrong with how they operate.
Have you read this?
http://sonicorbiter.com/docs/RoonServer
Your Sonic Transporter is your Roon core. It does not run Roon OS. This is purely for devices such as the Nucleus or Rock based systems. It’s Roons own operating system it has nothing to do with your system.
What are you expecting to see as an audio device on you core? Do you have a DAC connected to it, as it will only show up if it’s connected and powered on.
This is what I don’t understand. I see everything in order to play from the sonictransporter, but that is just not happening. I see the transporter on my network and have full access to it. but the transporter, just does not show up in the roon audio menu
I have the PS directstream dac and the SOTM Reclocker connected. the system was working for months and then stopped functioning
I want to thank everyone for the help offered. But after looking at many of the threads on the new roon software and the Macbook(new ones). I am going to go back to my Intel mac mini to see if that works instead. When I choose the Macbook as my core, all of the setup steps work no problem. When select sonictransporter nothing works on this mac. The software features(audio) only default to the Macbook. I hope the engineers at Roon are looking at these threads.
Connected to the Sonic Transporter or the Mac? Your not being very clear as to what you exact setup is or was. Give a full topology of what is the Roon core in your setup. What kit is connected to what and by what method of connection . Let us know how each device is connected to your home network. What does you home network consist of? Without this info no one will be able to help you properly as your not being exactly clear as to what doesnt work as you want it or used to.
The mac can see the ST as the Roon core that is evident in your screen grabs , your mac shows the PS Audio dac is connected to it and the core is seeing this mac as an audio zone, your core has nothing directly connected to it audio wise so nothing shows up. So what is the problem? Roon only runs as a server on the Sonic Transporter you can only connect to it via other devices running Roon apps. It will see all Roon supported device over the network or via a DAC directly connected to it. There is nothing showing in you grabs as beinf connected to your core, just the mac via the network with the PS Audio device connected.
My sonictransporter is connected to my network router via ethernet. the reclocker is connected by USB to the transporter, the reclocker is connected to the DAC by I2S cable. My Mac is connected by ethernet cable
You images show you mac connected to a DAC via core Audio what is this?
Go in to the SonicTransporters web interface and see if it sees the reclocker/ DAC .
Have you checked to see if local Roon playback is enabled?
Hi JS, I understand you use the Mac purely as a “control” device (instead of e.g. your phone).
Your issue is why the Roon audio settings don’t show your DAC as an “endpoint”.
Go to the settings of your SonicTeansporter, there should be a “DAC diagnostics” app. What does it show?
Your issue is between ST and the DAC
I have an UltraRendu (player only) running the same SonicOrbiter s/w and here is what it will show when the DAC is connected
The same app displays an error when the DAC is not connected
