Description of Issue

I was having some jams as described in this recent post and decided that I would have to wipe and reinstall the ROCK software on my NUC. After doing so for some time, I keep coming up to this screen:

This followed after consulting the ROCK Install Guide a checking (and rechecking) the bios (some settings I was unable to change, but then later I could) and then the ROCK installation. I’ve seen this screen earlier in the process which at one point prompted me to wipe the NUC including opening the box and removing and reinserting the jumper cable to complete the wipe).

Even after all of that, I still get stuck on the screenshot above.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Before others chip in, my suggestion is to reboot your router.

There is no reason, for this error, that you would need to wipe the NUC. Don’t bother with that again.

If you suspect that you have a bad Ethernet port you can always get a USB to Ethernet dongle and try to connect with that. The dongle is cheap.

Edit: Reading your post where you can’t connect to ROCK when it is directly plugged in to your router would indicate that the problem is there. Perhaps it is the ARC settings you set when you had trouble connecting to ARC? Try disabling ARC, or backing out of any settings you changed to use ARC, as an experiment.

I am not at the stage of connecting the NUC to my LAN. I’m still at the point of getting the ROCK software loaded on the NUC. If I recall, the Install Guide doesn’t specify network connectivity at this point.

ROCK is running on your NUC. It’s putting out the message “Searching for network address”, i.e. ROCK is trying to connect to your network (LAN).

Have you connected ROCK to your network with an Ethernet cable? If not, that’s the problem.

Yep, looks like they were not clear about the need to have ethernet hooked up during install.

But it says it in the troubleshooting section (go figure):

Troubleshooting

  1. If Roon can not find your ROCK device, here are some ideas on how to troubleshoot the problem:

  2. Check the web UI about missing codecs

  3. Check your network. For Roon to find your Roon OS device on the network, make sure you have the ethernet cable plugged into your device and DHCP is available. Also, make sure your Roon software is running on the same LAN as the Roon OS device

Still kinda vague…

Kinda vague, but that did it, thanks!
