For Roon connectivity to work properly, both Roon Server and Roon Remote need to be turned on.

My Roon Server is on a Silent Angel Rhein Z1C. Everything was fine until the new Roon 2.71 firmware update. After installing the new update via the Roon Remote app on my iPad,the Roon Server app on Z1C Will not start And is switched off. i’ve tried rebooting the server, but the server app just won’t turn on. so I then tried resetting The Roon Database, deleting the Roon Server and reinstalling it, which worked, but only because it was on Roon 2.0, but then after updating it again to Roon 2.71, it stopped working again.

Roon server is on A Silent Angel Rhein Z1C, connected to an EERO Pro 6E network by Ethernet, which wirelessly connects to another eero pro 6E, Which is then connected via ethernet to a Sky router with Wi-Fi switched off
However, I had a look at the thread you linked and most people in there say even though their server stopped, they can still connect to it with the remote, but mine is completely off-line since the update.
Thanks for the clarification @Quark, this is indeed likely a separate issue.
Are you able to capture a set of Roon Server logs from the Z1 of this failure process? The Z1C runs VitOS rather than Roon OS, so the exact access route is Silent Angel’s, but typically the device exposes a network file share (reached over SMB at the unit’s hostname/IP, similar to how Nucleus/ROCK expose a Data share), or you export logs through VitOS Manager. If you’re not certain which VitOS build exposes it how, that’s worth confirming with Silent Angel’s side.

I have submitted the zip file you requested. Just putting the web address of the server brought up a page where I could download Roon server logs.
Just for context, because I have backups, I have tried clearing the Roon server database, deleted the app and reinstalled Roon server App twice now, without success. Each time I download it, it’s the basic Roon server app version 2.0, which works, but then when I update that to the latest 2.71 version via the remote app on my iPad, it then stops working.

The good news is they tell us something useful right away: the log we received is from the 2.0 session, and it actually captures the update running to completion. The 2.71 package downloaded and installed cleanly (“Installation was a success!”), and the app then signalled it was restarting into the new version. Everything up to that point looks healthy, network, your account/license, storage, and the local audio (RAAT) all came up fine, with no errors anywhere in the file.
What that means is the problem isn’t a corrupt download or a failed install. It’s happening the moment the new 2.71 build tries to start up after the restart and that particular boot attempt isn’t in the log we have, because this file ends just before it. So I can’t yet see the exact reason it fails to come back online.
Could you grab the logs again after letting the Z1C sit on 2.71 for a minute or two following a fresh start attempt? Specifically:
The current RoonServer_log.txt (and any rolled RoonServer_log_*.txt files), this time it should contain the 2.71 startup and whatever it hits.
The RAATServer logs from the same folder.
One more thing on our side: because the Z1C runs Silent Angel’s VitOS rather than Roon OS, this may be an interaction between 2.71 and the VitOS environment specifically. If the new logs confirm that, I’d also recommend touching base with Silent Angel support in parallel, in case a VitOS update is needed alongside this Roon release.
In the meantime, since you’ve confirmed 2.0 reinstalls and runs reliably, feel free to stay on 2.0 so you’re not left without music while we track this down.

Your explanation of how you saw the update in the log files make sense. When I perform the update from the earlier version, it downloaded it in the iPad roon app and then lose connection permanently when trying to restart. When I check on vitos manager it just says stopped. So this time I restarted the silent angel and in the menu for Roon server app tap the start button, as you can see in the photo above of the webpage. Indicated it was running, but when I checked the roon app it couldn’t find the server, then when I went back to vitos manager, roon server app stopped again. It was after that that I downloaded the log files again, hoping it would give you the start-up process you asked for.
When I put the silent angel’s web address and I only have one option, to download Roon server log file files, as shown in the photo below. I hope this gives you what you need.
So I have contacted silent angel for help as well and they have just replied to me saying that they are aware of the issue and advised me to use version 2.0 until they can fix the latest version
It’s because when you delete the app in VitOS and re download it, the download version is 2.0. Then if you update it, it goes straight to the corrupt 2.71 version, so you have to leave it on version 2.0. It’s not great, because some things aren’t working properly.

Rhein Z1 V2 is the Roon Server. The Remote App on Apple Tablet does Not find the Server After latest Update of Roon. The Server is still Running in the Network. What is the fault with this Update. Server, Remote App and Vitos Manager are all onthe latest Version. Please help

· Hello everyone, Unfortunately, I have to get in touch again. Since yesterday’s update to Roon version 2.71, the Roon Server on my Silent Angel Rhein Z1C no longer starts reliably. After restarting the Silent Angel, I can start the Roon Server exactly once. However, it shuts down on its own after a few seconds and cannot be started again in any way afterwards. To rule out a configuration error, I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the Roon Server. The standard version (Roon 2.0) that comes pre-installed on the Silent Angel works fine at first. I can mount my network share, enable all audio devices and configure the system as normal. However, as soon as Roon is updated to version 2.71, the problem reoccurs immediately: the server no longer starts, or shuts down immediately after starting. To be honest, I’m now very disappointed. As you know from my previous support cases, I’ve been struggling with various issues relating to Roon for quite some time. Now, with the latest update, another serious problem has arisen that renders my system practically unusable. Are you already aware of this behaviour with version 2.71, or is there a solution or workaround? At the moment, I unfortunately no longer have a working system. Hello, my Roon is having issues after the Core was updated to 2.71. Currently, my Roon Core (Server) is running on Silent Angel Z1 (the architecture might be Linux? I'm not sure), and it has been working reliably up to version 2.70. After I updated to 2.71 yesterday, I was unable to connect to the Roon server.
When I check via the official manager VitOS Manager, the Roon service shows as "STOP," and when I try to "RUN" it, it goes back to "STOP." At this point, I can only use Roon by reverting back to the stable version (2.0) through VitOS Manager.
I have already read through the related posts and Roon official notice about this update, but my situation is different, so I would like to report my issue separately: after updating Roon to version 2.71, I am completely unable to connect to the Roon Server.
