Description Of Issue

Roon either doesn’t connect or drops connection after 15 seconds for both Tidal and Qobuz.

iMac wired to router with ethernet. I’ve already tried turning everything on and off plus disabling firewall. Has never worked (in free trial).

Hi. Can someone help me. I’ve spent hours trying to sort this out. Discovered Roon will work with Tidal if I lower streaming quality all the way down to normal but stalls with anything else.

Hi @Ian_Mellor,

Typically this means there is a bandwidth issue preventing playback from working on higher qualities.

Is your Core and Node2i connected via Ethernet directly to the router or is there any other networking gear in place?

What are your download speeds?

Hi,

Thanks for getting back.

Yes Core is connected with Ethernet and I get 70mb/s with my connection. All other devices in my house have a strong and reliable connection.

I’m having the issue playing music on the Core itself with ethernet connection and no other devices on in the house.

I’ve also tried changing the DNS to Google and turned off all firewalls without success.

Hello,

Can someone please help? The issue seems to be with the way Roon works with the streaming services. I want to invest in a Roon system as I can see the benefits but it clearly needs to stream online services in HD.

Hi @Ian_Mellor,

Do you have any local media in similar quality to what isn’t playing from TIDAL? Are you able to play that local content okay?

Can you give some details about the Core machine? Is Roon installed on an SSD? Can you give details on the CPU & RAM?

Hi,

Have FLAC albums stored on the core and they all work perfectly.

The core is a late 2015 iMac witg 3.2ghz and 8Gb DDR3. Roon installed on harddrive.

It’s a fairly vanilla set-up so don’t understand why I’m having issues.

Ian

Is Roon installed on a SSD ?

Yes it’s installed on the internal drive of my iMac.

Hello @Ian_Mellor, so we know local content works, do you have any issues playing from the TIDAL or Qobuz apps?
