Can’t find Roon backup folder

I’m having the following problem.

Roon is set for automatic backups of the database to a drive on my NAS – It’s called RoonServer as originally I had Roon installed on this drive, but I’ve been using a Nucleus Plus for a few years, so it’s solely a backup drive now. Other drives on my NAS hold my music files.

According to my backup settings the backup folder path is \nas\RoonServer\Backup\RoonBackups

The paths for my music files are:

\nas\musicone

\nas\musicfour

Everything was working fine, and backups were taking place automatically, the last on 12 November.

This morning however, things have gone wrong.

First, the number count for my albums had gone right down, and Roon was displaying only the Qobuz albums from my library, none of the albums stored on my NAS.

On checking Settings > Storage, I was getting the following message in respect of each of the four NAS drives: “This directory is not available”, in red.

I checked my NAS using Synology software, and each drive is shown as present. Using Windows I’ve done folder checks on the NAS drives, and everything seems to be fine, so I’ve concluded that the issue is not with my NAS. There have been no software updates to the NAS for a month or so.

I did a soft reboot of Roon Server, but the position remains the same.

I then turned to installing a backup of my Roon database: Settings > Backups > Find Backups > Browse.

Selecting the RoonServer drive in the left panel displays the message “Error loading Folder NotFound” and clicking on the “Select this Folder” button gives the following message: “No backups found”. This not surprising because my backups are in a subfolder – "\nas\RoonServer\Backup\RoonBackups” and I need to drill down to the subfolder “RoonBackups”. Unfortunately, I cannot work out how to point the backup manager to that subfolder.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might proceed?

Thanks in advance.

An update: having robooted my NAS Roon is detecting all of the drives I have set for backup and music files, expcet for one.

Synology software reports that the drive is healthy and I’m able to access the drive and its folders using Windows file manager, and I’ve tried disabling the drive in Roon and then adding it back using the same path, but Roon still can’t identify it.

All very strange, but any suggestions or tips would be welcome…
