@Terry_Murray, so you know to which version of Roon you updated, was it Build 1272? Can you see the Nucleus Plus on your router’s admin page as a connected device?
Nope, can’t see it. It was last week whatever update that was, 254 I think. This is the third time this has happened to me. First on my Nuc running ROCK so I bought a Nucleus+. It failed after an update last September so I sent it in for warranty service. It has worked flawlessly until last week when I clicked update all on my iPad and it never came back. All I have is a rhythmically blinking Ethernet light.
I am very tempted to move to a Mac Mini running headless with the Roon server app as my core. I would then have control over the hardware and the OS. I don’t know what happens in the Roon OS update process to brick a device but it has happened to me multiple times.
I run the Roon server app on my 2018 MacBook Pro as a backup when this happens. I have never had a problem with it after updates.
Same issue on my nucleus+, suddenly can‘t be found in the network environment and no hdmi output to screen. LED‘s are on (Network and Power). Haven‘t used Roon for a couple of days, so I don‘t know when this exactly started. Quite frustrating.
I’m glad to see Frank got help with his problem. It would be nice if I could get some assistance. I bought my Nucleus+ directly from Roon on 5 Feb 2021 so I guess it’s out of warranty though it was repaired in Sep 2022.
Should I write off my Nucleus+ since it’s out of warranty? It had the mother board replaced after less than two years and failed again six months after that. Both after upgrades. I just need to know if I need to move on.
You have my apologies for the delay in getting to your thread!
Following up here, can you check the internal LEDs when turning the Nucleus on? More information about the failure can potentially be found by opening up the unit and taking a look at the LEDs while it
is connected to power. Unscrew the bottom panel and look at the LEDs below:
Power Switch LED
There is a power switch on the board which powers on the board. Try pressing this. RevB pictured below:
If the Nucleus powers on at this point it means the other power switch is bad and needs to be replaced.
If the LED flashes in a pattern, this pattern could tell us more about the issue. NUC blink codes can be found on Intel’s site. The most common one that we’ve seen is 3 blinks, meaning a memory error.
Remove the RAM, verify that the slots are clean and free of any debris, and then place them back in.
Sometimes this might fix the issue.
The LED comes on with the external switch, both the white and green. They are both on solid. I don’t see the Nucleus+ connected to my router. I have a static DHCP entry for it. I have also rebooted the router. I don’t have an HDMI cable handy but I expect it would be the same as when I tried it earlier.
