Cannot delete files from my Rock

Roon Core Machine

NUC8i5BEH, 8GB of RAM (2x 4GB DDR4-2400 CL17), 500GB NVMe SSD boot drive (WD Black SN770), 1TB 2.5" SATA SSD for music (Samsung 870 EVO).

Networking Gear & Setup Details

My ROCK is hardwired directly into my Verizon Fios-G1100 router via ethernet. The router is hardwired into the Nokia 211 ONT (Optical Network Terminal) that Verizon supplied me with (Model number: G-211M-C).

Connected Audio Devices

I have a pair of KEF LSX speakers hooked up to my M1 MacBook Pro, via Aux. I also have the KEF’s connected to Roon via the network. My MacBook is how I access the core, and manage my files via the network.

Number of Tracks in Library

1,622 Artists, 3,897 Albums, 28,609 Tracks, 25 Composers.

Description of Issue

I’m new to Roon, and am working to get my library set up properly for the first time.

I added my entire music library to Roon (copying my files to the Rock via network), but found there were a lot of duplicate albums and songs in my collection, and discovered that many of the files were tagged terribly, etc.

I decided the best way to fix this is to start from scratch, and build it up brick by brick. So the plan is to delete all the music files off of my Rock, and then add them again, 5 at a time and edit the tags as I go, making sure there are no duplicates and whatnot.

The issue is that I’m getting an error whenever I try to delete some of the albums off of the Rock. Note that I’m doing this by accessing the core via the network on my MacBook.

The error I’m getting is: “The operation can’t be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure “Locked” is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again.”

Following the tips in the error message doesn’t help. The files are not locked, and they’re not read only or no access.

Any tips on how I can proceed? Thanks in advance!

It’s weird, AFAICT the smb mount should be with full permissions. Check the folders as well: Data/Storage, Data/Storage/InternalStorage, and the containing folders (artist, album) of one of the affected files. No lock and full permissions as well?

Can you delete the albums from within Roon? Album page > (…) button at the top > Edit > Delete > Album Options > Your files > Delete

Ahh, it seems as though some of the files in these folders were locked! I edited them, and all is well. Thanks for the help!
