Cannot log in to Roon ARC – InvalidRecaptcha error

Hi, I’m unable to log in to the Roon ARC app on my iPhone 16 Pro Max (iOS 18.4). Every time I try to sign in, I receive the error message:

There was an error logging in: InvalidRecaptcha

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Verified I can log into https://account.roon.app successfully
  • Confirmed that Google reCAPTCHA works via the test page
  • Tried logging in with both email/password and “Sign in with Google”
  • Cleared cache and reinstalled the Roon ARC app
  • Switched networks (Wi-Fi, mobile data)
  • Ensured system date and time are correct
  • No VPN or custom DNS in use

My Roon Core is running on a NAS and appears to be working fine. I can control it via the main Roon app without issues.

Could you please help me identify what’s causing this InvalidRecaptcha error in Roon ARC?

Update:
I am currently in the UK, but my Roon account was originally registered in Hong Kong. I’ve used Roon ARC successfully while in the UK before, without any issues. However, after the latest Roon ARC app update, I am now consistently getting the InvalidRecaptcha error when trying to log in — even when using a VPN set to Hong Kong. This was never a problem before the update.

I believe the latest update may have introduced a bug in the reCAPTCHA verification process.

Roon Labs, please think about providing an FAQ for this in the knowledge base, it seems the frequency gets so high it would save time to have one.

Where is your RoonServer located currently? Is it in Hong Kong or the UK? If the latter, are you using a VPN to reach upstream servers and bypass georestrictions?

Are you using any content blockers you can try to turn off? Are you able to try to open the page in Safari as a link directly?

Is there a reason you’ve typed “wew” instead of “www” in the URL for the Roon website?

You mentioned that you’ve relocated your RoonServer device to the UK. Are you still using a VPN or proxy on that server device to reach the internet?

If the geolocation or network credentials of the server authentication and the ARC authentication are too mismatched, Google will throw a reCAPTCHA failure.

What is the network pathway serving the NAS?
