· The Nucleus boots up and I can connect to it in the Roon app without issue, but I have a question about configuration/storage/attached devices

Describe the issue

Subject: External devices cannot mount Nucleus One SMB Data share (miniDSP Volumio + Eversolo)
Server: Roon Nucleus One with internal SSD, running current Roon OS, on a wired home network.
I can browse the Nucleus Data share from macOS as guest without issues ( smb://192.168.1.201/Data ), and see Storage/InternalStorage where my music lives.
However, two different embedded devices fail to mount or read that same share:
– A miniDSP device running the bundled Volumio 3.912 build (mandatory for that product)
– An Eversolo unit I own
On the miniDSP/Volumio side, a clean CIFS mount attempt with:
– IP: 192.168.1.201
– Path: Data or Data/Storage/InternalStorage
– Type: cifs
– Username/Password: guest
– Options: blank, or vers=2.0 / vers=3.0
always fails with mount error(22): Invalid argument .
The Eversolo has also had trouble reading from the Nucleus One as a network drive. Meanwhile, macOS connects fine.
Questions:
1. Are there any known SMB/guest access quirks or requirements for the Nucleus One’s Data share when used by embedded clients (Volumio, Eversolo, etc.)?
2. Is there a recommended SMB version or specific mount options that third‑party streamers should use?
3. Is there any way to adjust SMB settings on the Nucleus One (e.g., forcing a particular SMB version) if a client only supports older/newer dialects?
Any guidance or known compatibility notes would be very helpful, as at the moment both embedded clients fail while desktop OSes work.

Hi @Kevin_Lasso,

Thanks for the details. Does it fail with all the SMB options you’ve tried? What happens if you leave the username and password fields blank? Note, we are working on RoonOS 3.0 that has improved SMB capabilities, in case you wish to give this version a try, it is currently in Early Access:
