Cannot play higher than 48/24 on Chromecast and Taotronics TT-BA09

In experimenting to see if I could use my Bose QC 35 wireless headphones with Roon, I tried a Chromecast (RUX-J42) putting out via optical to a Taotronics TT-BA09, which puts out a Bluetooth signal. This setup worked for 44.1/16 and 48/24 .flac files. It doesn’t work (no sound in the headphones) for 88/24, 88.2/24, 96/24, 192/24 or DSF/DSD 256 files. I did a little research on the Chromecast, and although there are some reported issues, there are success reports with at least 96/24. I couldn’t find anything about the Taotronics.

Is anyone familiar with issues in this area?

I plugged the Chromecast (via optical-out cable) into my pre-amp, and all the Hi-Res files play fine. I further tried the headphones via a plug from my secondary desktop, and the headphones work fine. So I guess it’s the Taotronics TT-BA09 that is the issue.

I would imagine the Bluetooth adaptor cant Handle above 48khz . If it’s got aptxhd support it would but then Bose headphones only support aac or standard Bluetooth codec not aptxhd . So its a bit of a pointless less exercise.
