Cannot play WDR4

WDR is Not correct

Correct url for wdr4 is: :

Trank YouTube

Hello @Frank_Schneider1 , I’m not clear what is wrong. I assume we are talking about WDR 4, Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln .

The url used in our database for that station is re-directed by WDR’s audio server for load balancing reasons. One of the re-directions is the url you have posted. We don’t like using those when a token is involved as they can be ephemeral.

Actually, it appears that the two WDR 4 stations in the database are now identical. (Perhaps they were different in the past? - I don’t know)

I couldn Access the Stations. could ist be http https?

They both work fine for me.

By “couldn’t access”, what do you mean? They won’t play, or you couldn’t find them?

A Message appears: the Station could Not be played. Perhaps the adress has changed. Something like that in german

Can you play other radio stations ok?
Can you try
95bfm (flac)
CJSW (aac)
WRFG (mp3)

What is your core running on?

95bfm (flac) Working
CJSW (aac) not Working
WRFG (mp3) Not Working

Core is 2.0 Build 1234 on Synology 920+

There a several stations, that Workshop as well, for example brf1

Thank you

Your codecs are missing. This should help…
https://roononnas.org/en/synology-dsm7/

I installed the Codecs. Now 95bfm works with all kind of streams including aac and mp3.
Cjsw and wrfg are also working.
Wdr4 still does not work.
This is the message:
Unable to Play this station. Its adress may have changed or it may be temporarly not available

That is strange, I can play without problems.

Just to check - you are using the database version of WDR 4 and not a version you added yourself? The audio URL starting https will not work, it needs to be http

i do not know, how to add the station by myself. so I think, it is the database.
In browser i have the same effect:
working: https://wdr-wdr4-live.icecastssl.wdr.de/wdr/wdr4/live/mp3/128/stream.mp3
not working: http://wdr-wdr4-live.icecast.wdr.de/wdr/wdr4/live/mp3/128/stream.mp3
Thank you

That is strange. The http link plays fine in two browsers I have tried.

Do you have some firewall restrictions on http?

Let’s try another http only station.
Can you play BigFM: Live?

Hello Brian,

i did find out the cause, but not the real solution except disabling the feature:
It is not the firewall, it is not the ips, it is the feature clamav on squid proxy, which I use
By disabling the clamav-feature on squid, the radio-stations works perfect.
Unfortinality, there ist no entry in the logs of squid or clam

One point to the the aspect of the room on synology: an alternative method to activating the codecs directly in room core, is to use the docker-container image of roon. In that image, the codes are already included and for me it works perfect, including the conversation from dsd. i use the roon-docker-image from steefdebruijn docker-roonserver
Thank you very much for the support
Frank

Good news!

(I’ve moved the posts to a separate topic so the solution can be clear to others)

final workaround:

Squidclamav and the problems with video- or webradiostreams

If you watch videos on youtube or listen to webradio there could be problems and dropouts.

A entry in [/etc/squidclamav.conf] is a simple workaround of this problem.
