Cannot sign on to Roon on Mac OS or iPhone - continuous loop

Just tried to sign in to Roon on Mac OS and iPhone but there is a continuous loop. Nothing has changed here:

iPhone and MacOS the same

  • Open Roon app
  • Choose Roon Core - all correct, green ready and press Connect
  • Roon screen - Login or Sign up, press login
  • RoonMobile wants to use “Roonlabs.com” to sign in. Press continue.
  • Welcome back! Choose an account - choices are the one I have or sign out and choose another. Selected the one I have.
  • Back to Roon screen above Roon screen - Login or Sign up - and so on for ever.

What’s going on?

Chris

A post was split to a new topic: Having issues signing into my Roon account

Hey @Chris_Jenkin1,

Ben with the support team here, thanks for your patience while we work through each thread.

I was able to pull up your account, and see your core + remotes have been online and active recently. Are you still having issues signing in?

I’ll be on standby for your reply. :+1:

Hi Ben - I contacted technical support since the system was unusable. I had to install the latest version of Core on my NAS and then reboot the NAS to be able to sign in again using Remote. Sign-in system has clearly changed. If the Core becomes one step behind Remote in terms of updates Remote cannot then sign in, cannot tell you why and just loops you round and asking for login details and answers to checks. Not a tolerant system.

At least I am back in business but the looming annual sub payment gave me pause for thought.

I also note that Roon’s info about the NAS Core is strongly saying don’t use it use Nucleus instead. A key benefit of Roon is being able to use existing kit. It is used to say use a better NAS. Does Roon need to work on a lighter weight Core?

Chris

Hey @Chris_Jenkin1,

Thanks for the update!

You are correct here - specifically with a recent update we pushed. You can learn more about it here:

Roon 2.0.20 and ARC 1.0.41 are live!.

I’m glad to hear you’re back in business - certainly, let me know if you run into any other hiccups along the way!

Thanks for the reminder. The update email says that “A single-point login for all Roon services saves time and reduces confusion”.

Well it may do if one’s Roon Core has already been updated! Should there have been a warning, or are those who still use NAS cores being ignored? It certainly is not the case if the update is needed - it all took considerable time and was very confusing!
