This module is not a Roon Core, Roon need a PC that has the Roon app installed on it to manage the database, library, audio connections, ect.
For most users, this is typically a PC they have that meets the Minimum Requirements, although some users have build/purchased dedicated machines for Roon (Nucleus / Roon Optimized Core Kit).
At bare minimum, you would need to install Roon on a PC (that’s acting as your Roon Core) and then enable your audio devices in Roon Settings -> Audio. Any questions after you have reviewed the guides just let me know!
Yes, that is correct. If the PC hosting the Roon core turned off, you won’t be able to use any of your audio devices with Roon.
Some of our users have gone down the route of having an “always-on” music server that sits in a closet/server room while others prefer to have the Roon Core manually be turned on/off with each listening session.
