Tell us what's going on

· New to Roon, but had Roon Essentials. I was told during setup that I would be asked to deauthorize roon essentials, but I was not. I am no longer able to access roon essentials to see if it is deauthorized or not. I am curious if this is why I cant find the nucleus on my Mac via finder, cmd K, to load files from an external drive to the internal drive

Hello @john_dahl,

First, you do not need to worry about deauthorizing Roon Essentials. Roon Essentials operates on a slightly different licensing system than the main Roon platform, so you won’t see a standard deauthorization prompt when moving to a Nucleus. Your new account is perfectly fine, and the old Essentials core is not interfering with your current setup.

The easiest and most reliable way to bypass this and connect to your internal drive is to use the Nucleus’s direct IP address in the Cmd + K menu. You can easily find this IP address using the exact steps highlighted in the second screenshot you provided:

  1. Open Roon and click the Settings gear icon (marked as 1).
  2. Navigate to the Setup tab (marked as 2).
  3. Click the Find button next to Find Roon OS (marked as 3). This will open a pop up showing your Nucleus’s IP address.

Once you have that IP address, you can connect directly from your Mac:

  1. Open Finder and press Cmd + K (Connect to Server).
  2. In the Server Address bar, type smb://[YOUR_IP_ADDRESS]/Data (for example: smb://192.168.1.50/Data).
  3. Click Connect. If it prompts you for a name and password, simply connect as a Guest.

From there, you will see a folder called Storage, and inside that, your InternalStorage drive where you can drag and drop your music files.
