I can see the song “Sign of the times“ by Harry Styles on Qobuz.. BUT, not in QOBUZ via Roon.. Any idea why? Can any one see this song in Roon?
No that’s a piano cover of the original song that’s not the song from the album
I think the problem is Roon’s wonky search, or maybe a deeper problem in Roon’s database.
Here is the track in the Qobuz app, in an album titled Harry Styles.
When I searched on Roon, an album titled Harry Styles doesn’t appear. Even if I open the artist Harry Styles, the album doesn’t appear in his discography.
The workaround is to favorite the album or track in the Qobuz app. Then in Roon, refresh Qobuz (open Qobuz in Roon’s main menu, then tap on the circle arrow icon at upper left). The album or track should now appear in your Roon library under albums or tracks.
There is clearly something broken that Roon needs to fix. I encountered something similar and I’ll post it separately.
Is the “Harry Styles” album allocated as a version of the “Harry Styles - Piano Covers” album? I see this happening with albums. I have Tidal and Piano covers is a version of the main album. Maybe it’s been reversed with Qobuz data?!
Good point. I assumed that they were different albums because I saw that they had different album titles, artwork, and track timings. However, Roon identified them as being two versions of the same album, which is incorrect.
I don’t agree with this type of versioning either. If it’s a remaster, or anniversary edition, fine. But if it’s a re-imagining or remix album, etc., it should probably be a separate album. But I am sure there are plenty of opinions on this and it appears mine lost. ![]()
Thanks, this was the “fix“ that worked.
I think most of people would agree with you, that an album with cover versions should not be filed as a primary version of the original one, causing the latter to disappear behind it in discographies.
The problem is: How could roon know? Album artist, album title, release date, tracklisting are the same. The piano version apparently does not exist in Xperi or MusicBrainz, so roon has to rely on Qobuz´ metadata here, making it recognize it as a release version of the original album. To make matters worse, the piano album offers higher resolution, maybe the reason it is shown as the primary version in roon.
