Can't get Allo Kali & Piano 2.1 to appear in Roon [Resolved]

Hi,

I’ve got a Raspberry Pi 3 with Allo Kali and Piano 2.1, and it’s running RoPieee.

I’ve booted up and I could see the RoonBridge install OK. I’ve been to the ropieee.local page and set the Audio output “Allo Piano DAC 2.1” and disabled the audio USB .

The Pi has been reboot but isn’t appearing within Roon.

I already have a Allo DigiOne player with RoPieee and with the above steps it just appeared.

I’ve SSH’ed onto the problem Pi and here’s some logs I found:

[root@kitchen Logs]#

I’ve also tried with DietPi and get similar issues.

Thanks

Some extra info, and I suspect this will be user error…

My Remote is 1.3 build 247 stable 64bit.
Core: Same and on QNAP NAS

But under about, I can also see my problem Pi (aka kitchen) and it’s showing as Roon Bridge 1.0 build 106 stable.

Why would it appear on here but not under my Audio section? Is there something else I have to do to add it into Roon?

My DigiOne just added itself.

Thanks

And some info from the server:

Hi Dan,

Can you run a

aplay -l

and show the results?

1 Like

Hi,

Sure, thanks

[root@kitchen ~]# aplay -l
aplay: device_list:270: no soundcards found…
[root@kitchen ~]# cd /boot
[root@kitchen boot]# cat config.txt

See /boot/overlays/README for all available options

gpu_mem=64
initramfs initramfs-linux.img followkernel

dtoverlay=allo-piano-dac-plus-pcm512x-audio
dtparam=audio=off
boot_delay=5
[root@kitchen boot]#

ok. there’s the problem. as there is no soundcard detected RoonBridge will not pick it up, hence it’s not visible in the Roon settings page as well.

now… why?

Can you run a

dmesg

Sorry… think I maybe have found the problem, complete newbie error.

I made the power supply plugged into the Pi not the Kali… (there’s hardly any docs on Allo site).

Anyhow, lots of lights have all come on, on the Kali and the DAC.

I shall report back soon.

ok. first: sorry guys for having this long post. I’ve should have asked Dan to send it to me :wink:

But further: there seems to be a problem with the hardware initialisation. So that’s the reason why it doesn’t show up.

Have you used this HAT before?

It’s now appeared with Roon.

Thanks for your help SpockFish!

I’d be playing with the DigiOne all morning, where the PSU goes into the Pi.

The Kali is different.

Thanks
