No matter what I do, an album is displayed as TWO albums. Tracks 1-6 are in one, tracks 7-9 are in another, but the two albums are otherwise identical.

Have you tried merging the two manually?
Right-click or tap-and-hold both, so they’re both selected. Click the Edit button top right. In the popup screen, choose ‘Merge albums’.

What went wrong? I know they were “tagged” wrong, one set of tracks loaded the day after the other. (Problem obviously on my end). But why did that result in them separating into two albums?
