CarPlay and ARC album covers

I’m listening to downloaded content and all covers are on my iPhone and in the beginning showed up in CarPlay but no longer show up in either of my cars. I have fiddled with show covers in the settings as some have suggested but that doesn’t resolve the issue

Same. CarPlay experience is hit and miss.

Most of my downloads have never
appeared in CarPlay

Thank you for reporting this. It’s a long standing problem that unfortunately probably needs much more exposure before anyone will address it!

Different issue? I’m only listening off line, and all the albums I’ve downloaded have album covers on the iPhone

I’m not so sure, being offline seems to be the deciding factor - eg, when offline, album art disappears, including art for downloaded albums. Perhaps one could argue this behaviour is expected when offline, but surely not for downloaded content?

I only started using CarPlay recently. There have been times the album covers have shown up and times they didn’t, but they are all on the phone

There are still many flaws with offline functionality. Album covers (sometimes showing, sometimes not) is one of them. Once they stop showing though, it will never show again until it connects to your server.

Thanks for this; will spare me a lot of frustration! [Does it have to sync with the server or just be online?]

Brilliant! Just went online on the phone got into the car it connected to Arc and saw the library last sync, played a few bars of the album, went back off line and covers now all available!

It’s a cache issue. From previous topics, I think Roon said to access the album from your downloads annd view it online once, and then go offline and album art should stay. Although you’d have to do that for each album.

We’ve asked for images/album art to be cached when downloading. Even a small 150x150 image is enough so we can see album art…

But, we still wait.

Not in the cases described by me or others like @mikeb so many times. I can go into an album to make sure it’s cached, go offline and boom it’s gone or replaced by a tiny version before my eyes.

So far [Matthew_Bowden1] workaround seems to be working

It’ll work for a bit. But at some point you will need to connect again to your server.

I’m going to stay offline for the next few weeks with 73 albums on the phone and see how it works
