On carPlay with roonArc my Artistlists ends at the letter N. I assume the list is to long for carplay. I noticed that works in Apple Music. They also use a sorting where you can jump to different letters. I assume they group the Artistnames in little chunks to avoid this problem in carplay. Could you improve on this with a similar function?
the implementation how this of this function is displayed differs a bit from car to car.
The screenshots are taken from the Carplay Simulator but in my current car it looks exactly 1:1 the same.
On top i just noticed that the album view in AppleMusc can filter in the AlbumView between all and favorite albums. If this could become possible in roonArc it would be very helpful!
Thanks for sharing the above @Tino_Nettling! You are correct in that this is a setting specific to Carplay, and isn’t something we can readily adjust on our end. Indeed, there is ongoing work to try and improve the handshake around this, but progress is slow.
We highly suggest you share your thoughts over in our Feature Suggestions category on community, or check to see if someone has already suggested this, where you can upvote it! That way Arc development can better track the need for such a feature.
To be honest, i’m seriously scratching my head how i can use roonArc in the car.
How can my partner find his music after i added 10 albums?
The albumlist works only partly, recently added doesn’t work either . Telling siri to play a certain artist or album? Good luck!
Let’s step back - you’re testing on a simulator, and not in a vehicle? What’s your use case for testing on this simulator, other than curiosity about feature implementation?
Of course I’m using it in my car. The only reason to use the simulator is because i cannot always go to my car just to check one thing.
So everything i tested so far works exactly the same in my car as on the simulator.
I do not understand how the model of the car makes a differences, if it looks the exactly as in in the simulator, but it’s a Cupra Born late 2024
i can’t make a screenshot anymore (didn’t extend my trial) , but imagine a list with the names wich you can scroll down and then it suddenly ends and you cannot scroll further down, as if some Band with N is the last of my collection (it’s not… i listen sometimes ZZ Top )
I suppose it looks just like in the many other cases this has been reported before and was always called a CarPlay limitation by Roon Labs. The lists just end in the middle somewhere.
I recently had a rental which I believe was a BMW 3 Series 320d xDrive Touring (the G21 model from 2018) and while ARC worked generally fine, all lists like albums and artist stopped after apparently a limited number of items and therefore somewhere in the middle of the alphabet.
Thanks for letting us know. We had a chance to discuss your case with our ARC team today and have noted that there were some changes in this area in our most recent Early Access release.
Our accounts team will be in touch regarding your subscription, but once that is sorted, we were wondering if you could try the Early Access branch of Roon and let us know if there is an improvement in behavior. Let us know if you are able to verify this, thanks!
Thanks for letting us know! We’ll forward your suggestion, but a good place to also make it would be in our Feature Suggestions area of our site, as the Product team keeps an eye on this:
Since the original issue is solved with Early Access, I’ll go ahead and mark this thread as solved and the fix will make its way to Production. Thanks again for testing EA and if you need any further assistance in the future, just let us know!
