CD Ripped Music Not Found in Roon After Uploading to Innuos (ref#PNPKDL)

How can we help?

· I'm having trouble adding music to my library

Describe the issue

After ripping a CD and uploading it into Innuos, it often cannot be found in Roon

Describe your network setup

Zenith streamer (hard wired), Macbook Air (server/Roon core), TP range extender, 1 mb Comcast router

Hi @Laurence_Landow,

I’m afraid we’ll need a little more information to take action on this report.

Specifically, we’ll need to know:

  1. What is the relative arrangement of the hardware within the network topology you just described? Is the storage location in a networked location that is relying on the range extender to reach RoonServer? We’re trying to get a sense of what’s WiFi and what’s hardwired.

  2. Secondly, we’ll need to know the name of the missing album and the file format. Does it appear listed in Skipped Files under Settings → Library? Can you see it in a file viewer from another device on the same network?

Thank you!

  1. My home music network revolves around my living room in which is found a nearby TP Link RE705X range extender. Music files in my collection have been uploaded to my storage device (Zenith, Innuos), which is hard-wired to a LAN. I access these files wirelessly using Roon software installed on a Macbook Air.
  2. I successively uploaded two new FLAC music files this afternoon using DISC RIPPER (Innuos software). One of these files (“1940.05.06 NBC”) has the same title as a pre-existing file, but contains additional tracks not found on the prior file; I cannot find today’s file in Innuos or Roon, even though it was uploaded “successfully”. The second file I uploaded has a different title (“1940.05.06 Brahms Symphony No. 1 Rehearsal”) than the prior rehearsal file and is found in Innuos Sense and Roon.
  3. I was unable to find a Skipped Files folder or listing.
  • Addendum: Occasionally I have encountered difficulty finding newly uploaded files in Roon before; in a few cases they suddenly appear a day or two later in the Roon database, but in other cases, they remain hidden. Does Roon block uploading of duplicately-titled files of different sizes and content?

@Laurence_Landow, under Roon’s Settings → General menu, do you have “Show hidden tracks and album” set to Yes or No? If no, you may not see the album but it is probably in your library.

One aspect of library management I use for my duplicate albums is to name them slightly differently (e.g., for my Beatles duplicates, they may have Stereo or Mono appended to the title, or Anniversary Edition, or something to denote it as a unique version). I also have Show hidden tracks… turned on so all my local file imports are visible.

I reversed the “Show hidden tracks and album” switch as suggested. I even ripped the two “newer” versions a second time. They still don’t appear in Roon.

Thanks, let’s see what Roon says after they look at this.

Hi @Laurence_Landow ,

Is there any change in behavior if you navigate to Roon Settings → Storage → right click the storage location and perform a Force Rescan?

Noris gets the golden ring. Nice job!

Second question: How do I divide a single music file into two separate files?

Like a FLAC file or something? Not a Roon problem but audio editor software does that. Audacity works and it’s free:
