Since I chanced the name of ropieee in to RoonBridge a can’t get contact with it with http://ropieee.local.
I can get contact by using the ip-adress but not by http://ropieee.local.
Is that normal?
Yes. If you changed the name, you change the hostname of RoPieee.
Please go to http://roonbridge.local and you’ll be fine.
Thanks,
@spockfish i am having the same problem. i assembled an Rpi 4 plus hifiberry digi+pro. flashed ropieee, connected to internet, turned on and everything seemed to work. i configured at http://ropieee.local, including adding wifi. rebooted. everything seemed fine. then i thought i was supposed to change the host name before configuring in Roon. So I changed the host name and rebooted. now i can’t connect to the device through either
http://ropieee.local or http://roonbridge.local
any suggestions? was I not supposed to change the host name? is the host name related to the zone name in Roon (i thought it was, that’s why i changed it).
thank you.
The hostname is not related to the zone in Roon. It’s just the name how you can reach it (the web interface) and how it shows up in your router.
If you change the hostname to ‘my_own_hostname
’ then you can reach the webinterface on
http://my_own_hostname
or http://my_own_hostname.local
thank you so much! that worked. i can’t find the device in Roon (after rebooting roon), but i’ll try harder to figure that out before bugging the forum.
Keep in mind that for your device to appear in Roon in needs to be powered on. So if you use an USB DAC it needs to be powered on before it becomes visible in Roon.
maybe my entire plan is flawed.
i connected the digi+pro to a dac (part of a cd player) using a coax cable. i turned the cd player on. it is connected to a integrated amp, which i also turned on. i still don’t see anything in roon. my core runs on a NUC. in the “other network devices” within Roon Audio, all I see is my router.
Have you configured the HAT?
i’m not sure. i choose “hifiberrry digi+pro” in the ropieee configuration web interface. do i need to do something else? and i rebooted after making configuration changes.
if i can see the device in “http://digibox.local/” i assume that means it is connected to wifi, correct?
Yes. Can you send me feedback? You can find that on the ‘advanced’ tab.
feedback sent: 186ea3f1985b305e thanks!
btw, i plugged the coax from the Rpi device into a powered dynaudio speaker (the speaker has a dac). i still don’t see the device.
The audio device is not properly initialised, hence no audio device and no show up in Roon.
Are you sure you have a Hifiberry Digi Pro HAT?
that is what the sealed box says, literally “HiFiBerry Digi+ pro”. i.e. it was sealed before i installed it
Ok. Than I’m afraid you might have a faulty unit.
bummer. does that happen often?
i also bought i Rpi and a hifiberry dac hat. maybe i’ll try to put that together tonight and see if i can get that to work.
thank you very much for all your help.
