Changing a TIDAL playlist name in Roon should normally stick, so I’d like to check whether this is a metadata sync issue or a local library/database problem.
Could you confirm whether the rename reverts only in Roon, or also in TIDAL itself? Also, is this happening with one specific playlist or every TIDAL playlist you rename?
If it is only in Roon, please try renaming the playlist, then fully refreshing the view in Roon after a minute or two and see whether it holds. If it keeps snapping back, we may be dealing with a service sync problem rather than the edit itself. Our Networking Best Practices guide is also worth checking if there is anything unusual in the path between your Roon Server and the network, since streaming service metadata updates depend on a stable connection.
Hi, thanks for replying. The changes don’t stick in either Roon or Tidal, the duration they last is different each time, but it lasts more than a few minutes, yet eventually, it always goes back to the previous name in both Roon and Tidal.
Thanks for confirming that, that detail is actually the key one.
Roon doesn’t store its own copy of your TIDAL playlist names. When you rename a TIDAL playlist in Roon, we pass that change up to TIDAL, and from then on we simply display whatever TIDAL reports back. So if the new name reverts in the TIDAL app as well as in Roon, that tells us the rename isn’t being saved on TIDAL’s side, Roon is just reflecting what TIDAL is serving us.
To confirm this, could you try renaming one of the affected playlists directly in the TIDAL app (with Roon closed), then wait ten or fifteen minutes and check it again there? If the name reverts in TIDAL on its own, the issue sits with your TIDAL account rather than with Roon, and TIDAL’s support team will be best placed to sort it out. It’s worth mentioning to them that renames appear to save initially and then roll back after a few minutes, that’s usually a sign of something not committing properly on the account.
If the rename does hold in the TIDAL app but still reverts once Roon syncs, let us know and we’ll dig further on our end.
Yesterday I changed the playlist name on Tidal while Roon was off, and it stayed that way until today; however, when I turned Roon on today, the list reverted to its previous name on Tidal as well…
Understood, thanks for the detail @martfdez, it sounds like Roon is the cause for the reverting of your edits upon this additional information.
Can you share more details surrounding your local network setup? Are you able to temporarily simplify your setup by getting a direct ethernet connection from your Roon Server to your primary router?
We’ve enabled auto-diagnostics that should send us over a fresh report the next time you bring your Roon Server back online. Please let us know when you’re able to do this, and we’ll take another look.
The playlist is called “Baladas” and I changed it to “Tender,” but the change I made yesterday didn’t stick; it reverted as soon as I turned on Roon today. Many thanks.
Thanks for the logs and for confirming the playlist rename on Tidal. We were able to enable diagnostics and look through the logging, and this looks like a sync failure and Roon is not syncing that playlist for some reason.
Please try clearing your Roon cache and see whether that helps.
Thanks. For now, I’ve made the changes you suggested, renamed the playlist in Tidal, and connected Roon; it appeared with the new name in Roon as well. Now we just have to see if it sticks.
