Hello all,
I suggest to correct that if channel mapping is selected it should also apply to a 7.1 setup without sending content from 5.1 to 7.1, see images.
Now I have to change it manually depending on the format.
Thank you!

For my NUC/ROCK to Denon AVR HDMI setup I use the 7.1 layout for my 7.2.4 speaker arrangement with downmix as needed. That setup plays 2 channel stereo or multichannel as recorded without making any changes. My preference is to have the AVR set to convert Stereo to simulated multichannel using the Dolby surround processor. Files recorded as multichannel automatically bypass the surround processor and play as is.
The only reason I use 7.1 vs 5.1 channel layout is Roon adds the option to swap the rear and surround channels.
If I’m listening to multichannel music while setting in the recliner the headrest blocks the rear speakers so I swap the sides and rears to hear the surround channels.
I may be missing something but don’t use Channel mapping only.
