CHATGPT 6 and Roon PEQ - Blown Away!

Had to post this as I am absolutely blown away and want to share the experience. I measured my room baseline frequency response using REW, both L, R, and L+R, with Chat6 hand holding me all the way. Then I uploaded the measurement file to Chat6 and asked it (on Extra High and Pro setting) to create a Roon PEQ for my speakers that will give more body to vocals and more holographic soundstage.
After implementing the Chat6 recommended PEQ I was simply blown away. For the first time I am getting music that wraps around my head. On Madonna Vogue track her voice is coming from left and right of the ears.
As a bonus, having played the sweep tones through Roon I was able to measure my entire hifi chain i.e. Roon->Hifi Rose RS130 → Playback Designs PLINK → Playback Designs MPD-8-> Diablo 333 → Magico A3.

If this is the track you are referring to:

It is recorded/mixed with a technique called QSound which creates a surround effect from some clever phase shifts and delays.

If this wasn’t audible before, something was previously clearly amiss in your setup. Still, congrats on the perceived improvements! :+1:t2:

Thanks, yes, that’s the one. Previously the “what ya looking at” was infront of me and now it’s to the left and right of me. Another track that blew me away was Imgur: The magic of the Internet where I experienced the speakers disappearing for the first time with that track. I have been playing around with Roon PEQ for years and this is absolutely the best result I have ever had. Take-aways for me are:
(1) Must use REW to measure the room instead of using my own hearing to use AI to adjust the PEQ as the PEQ recommended by AI using actual REW are vastly different and gives the best results
(2) With REW measurements, the AI was able to tell me of the issues of the room and how to fix it without me needing to understand the measurements. In my case, the AI detected timing issues between my left and right speakers and suggested moving my right speaker 7 cm towards listening position. Something I wasn’t able to detect myself having moved the position of the speakers numerous times to arrived at a point where I thought the sound is the best.
As a bonus, the AI even tell me where to place the ceiling sound aborption panels when I gave it a photo of my room.
Having done extensive listening last night of all my favourite tracks I can say I am finally done with tinkering with my speaker positioning

Congrats! I am curious if you took new measurements at the end and if you had AI analyze it a second time. If so, how did it respond? Did it recommend further tweaks?

Yes it did. It asked me to do 11 more measures which are centered, left 10 cms, right 10 cms, back 10 cms, front 10 cms - basically try to map out the sound around my head. After I did that and fed it the results it gave me Left and Right speaker PEQs for my room as the baseline. Once I implemented the PEQs I re-measure the room and fed it the results to validate the PEQs work as expected (which it did). Then it suggested PEQs for W-sound, EDM, and Harman which I gladly took. It identified I have a timing issue from my right speaker but should leave it as my vocals are centered and I am getting the speakers disappearing effect. It suggested the soundstage is working for my asymetrical room hence should leave the speaker position as they are. I concur as I tried moving the right speaker forward to reduce the timing issue and it destroyed my soundstage. AI + REW + Roon is absolutely the killer usage for us audiophiles IMHO. Anyone can do it
