I put a managed switch just upstream from my Roon front end, made a 3 slot VLAN (Innernet in for Tidal, one output and the 3rd for a dedicated AP) dedicated AP is an old repurposed Linksys router on its own SSID
Swapping the infeed is very quick and repeatable i.e. just bypass the VLAN switch and reconnect iPad to house SSID and V V. The sound improvement with the dedicated SSID is significant - akin to a good cable upgrade
I have dedicated mains to the system rack and separately to the Roon front end - I put the new switch and AP on the dirty, dirty
house mains and there’s a 1m fibre isolation loop at the front of the Roon rig. Testing (swapping infeeds) was done in both cases into the 1m fibre loop
Since the router was gathering dust and the switch cost me GBP18 delivered, I’m very pleased with the result
