Chord mojo input issue MQA

Gents

I’ve sourced a chord mojo for upstairs bedroom listening.

Observations

When I play tidal master I get the blue input source mostly on the mojo via the USB OTG cable on my Samsung S10. All good and working fine.

Yet when the same track is played via Roon I get a much lower bit rate- default red

Any ideas why ? Thanks

What do you mean by “get blue input source”?
The mojo doesn’t support MQA so you’ll only be able to get the first unfold if it’s done by Roon or Tidal app. But that should get you yellow (88.2) or green (96) on the mojo as MQA will unfold to X2 sampling rate (from 44.1 or 48).

Do you have “MQA core decoder” enabled in Roon audio settings?

Sorry for not being specific. So when played via Tidal I get all the Blue 192khz for mqa but the same song being via Roon is red and always red.

I have got the source (Samsung phone) set to No MQA support bit not sure where the other setting are… thanks

Sounds strange, if you have the Tidal app streaming quality set to “Master”, a 24-192 MQA track will be unfolded to 96 by the app. When it hits the mojo it won’t be able to do the final rendering to 192 because it’s not a MQA certified DAC, thus playing it as 96 (green).

Unless something’s going on in your phone (upsampling) I don’t see how you can get blue light on the mojo. I’m an iPhone user myself so can’t say how Android’s working in this case.

You should have the same result in Roon if MQA core decoder is enabled and no upsampling occurring. The MQA core decoder can be enabled/disabled under Settings, audio, device settings (the mojo) advanced.

Yes strange. Blue and red so far via the tidal app and red only on the roon output.

I also notice there is No MQA core decoder engine option on the phone ? Maybe the processing power isn’t enough ?

So there is no Enable MQA core decoder option when I go I to advanced on the Samsung S10 roon zone ?

Would anyone know ? Thanks.

The Samsung is upsampling to 192kHz (blue) regardless of Roon setting. This is an Android “thing”. Nothing Roon can (currenty) do about this.
