Describe the issue

I have a nucleus one, using it as a roon core. Streaming on the ipad via lumin streamer. As of recently in the roon app, under settings/display my Lg tv does not show up as a chromecast device,so i am unable to display the now playing info on my tv. My tv is the lg65g4.

Describe your network setup

netgear modem/router c6300

Good day @RAJ_KHARA !

Thanks for reaching to us.

First thing, can you please clarify whether you have at home any L3 switches that may be blocking traffic ?

Did you enable any multicast traffic blockers on your router ? (Roon relies on mDNS for discovery).

And the last thing I want to point out is that LG G4 seem to be unreachable in the off state as chromecast receiver:
https://www.reddit.com/r/LGOLED/comments/1dworys/chromecast_issues_with_lg_g4_while_tv_is_turned/
.

Can you please confirm whether you are trying to stream on it while it’s on ?

THanks!

Looking forward to your replies!

Regards.

I am streaming via the lumin streamer to my anthem receiver. Using the LG tv just to display album art snd lyrics. Don’t have any blockers or settings enabled within the router.

Also to point out, when the lg is on roon/settings/audio shows the lg as an AirPlay device and not a chromecast device. As of a couple of weeks i was able to display album art on tthe lg. thanks.

Hello @RAJ_KHARA

Would you kindly let us know the WebOS version that you are currently running?

I am running webos 25

Hello @RAJ_KHARA

Thank you for the update, since the WebOS 25 LG supports the Chromecast natively.

Displays shouldn’t appear in the Audio devices. Would you kindly share the screenshot from Roon → Settings → Displays?

I am not at home, but when i click on setting-display, it shows no displays available. On the bottom it gives me the option of copying a link for web display

Hello @RAJ_KHARA ,

Thank you for your message. Can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader? Once logs have been uploaded, please let us know so that we can check the server for your files,

Additionally, please share the IP address of your LG TV, thanks!

Sounds good, will do

Hello @RAJ_KHARA

Please update us here when it is uploaded

Just to clarify, i am using my ipad as a roon remote and a nucleus one, so i would be sending you over the nucleus server logs correct ?

Hey @RAJ_KHARA,

Yes, that’s correct - you’ll need to use your Windows remote to gather your Nucleus Roon Server logs.

If you haven’t yet, I’d also reboot your router, TV, and Nucleus and see if you run into the same issue.

Thank you! :folded_hands:

ok, got it

Let us know when you’ve been able to successfully upload them, thank you @RAJ_KHARA!

NucleusOne roon server log files uploaded. The IP adress of my Lg tv is 192.168.0.98

Hello @RAJ_KHARA

We have reviewed the logs you provided, and here’s our analysis:

1. Chromecast Device Disconnection

[cast] lost device CastDevice[DeviceId=OLED65G4SUB...] because it disconnected
IOException in RTSP request: Unable to read data from the transport connection: Connection timed out
OPTIONS failed: Result[Status=NetworkError]
10/08 21:23:31 [Local 10/08 14:23:31] Info: [cast] lost device CastDevice[DeviceId=OLED65G4SUB.DUSQLJR-9e0f5a1c5a3343e7bc13eb358f5ec94b._googlecast._tcp.local, Name=OLED65G4SUB.DUSQLJR, Address=192.168.0.98] because it disconnected

  • The logs show that shortly after the Chromecast connection attempt, the TV disconnected.
  • The timeout on the RTSP/OPTIONS request indicates that Roon was unable to maintain a stable communication with the Chromecast service on your LG TV.
  • This explains the issue you reported with Chromecast screen issues.

2. AirPlay Pairing (Secondary Observation)

pair-verify #1 failed: 403 Forbidden, attempting pairing

10/08 21:23:40 [Local 10/08 14:23:40] Trace: [airplay/clientV2] [192.168.0.98] Connecting to airplay server
  • The AirPlay pairing initially failed but eventually succeeded.
  • While AirPlay is working, the logs show minor instability, but it is not the primary cause of your reported issue.

Observations

  • The Chromecast disconnection appears to be network- or device-specific, not a Roon server problem.
  • The TV was reachable initially, but the connection could not be maintained.

Recommended Next Steps for Chromecast Stability

  1. Assign a Static IP to the TV
  • Prevents DHCP-related IP changes that may interrupt Chromecast communication.
  1. Use Wired Ethernet Connection if Possible
  • Provides a more stable connection than Wi-Fi, reducing timeouts.
  1. Reset Chromecast Pairing on the TV
  • Press the Settings button on your LG remote.* Go to General > Network > Network Status.
  • Select Reset Network Settings.
  • Reconnect your TV to Wi-Fi
  1. Update LG webOS Firmware
  • Ensures the latest fixes for Chromecast/RTSP stability are applied.
  1. Check Network Restrictions
  • Temporarily disable firewalls or Wi-Fi isolation features that could block Cast traffic.

Thanks. I am able to access the static IP settings, however not sure of what values to put in. Need a little guidance.

Hey @RAJ_KHARA,

Here are some steps specific to your router:

https://help.comporium.com/residential/s/article/How-Do-I-Set-Up-a-Static-IP-with-My-Netgear-6300-Router

Let me know if this helps! :+1:

My lg tv has it to where i can enter a static IP address in settings of the wifi network of the tv. Do I still need to mess with my router settings as well.
