After reinstalling the Roon OS on my Nucleus, Chromecast has completely disappeared from Roon. Before the reinstall, I was able to see my TV as a Chromecast device and use screen casting / display sharing directly from Roon without any issues. Now, Chromecast devices no longer appear anywhere in Roon, so I cannot cast the display, lyrics, or any information to my TV. Important note: AirPlay is visible and working normally. The issue is only with Chromecast. I have checked the following: TV and Nucleus are on the same network Multicast, UPnP, and IGMP settings are enabled on the router Chromecast works normally from other apps (YouTube, Google Photos, etc.) Roon Remote and ARC have full network access Despite this, Roon still does not detect any Chromecast devices. Could you please assist me in restoring Chromecast visibility and functionality in Roon? Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards, Burak
Describe your network setup
My home network setup is as follows:
Modem/Router: Türk Telekom router (standard ISP-provided modem/router)
It looks like ROCK was installed on your Nucleus, and to restore the correct Nucleus OS, our RMA team will need to reinstall it remotely. This process will return the device to its intended factory software environment.
Please submit a request using the link below, and follow the guidelines shown in the screenshots attached:
Once the Nucleus OS has been reinstalled, feel free to update this thread if you still encounter any issues — we’ll be happy to continue the investigation.
I wanted to let you know that I have completed and submitted the requested support form as instructed. I will be waiting for the next steps regarding the remote reinstall of the correct Nucleus operating system.
Please let me know if you need any additional information from my side.
I can confirm that your ticket is currently in the RMA queue. As soon as the team has capacity to re-flash your device, they will contact you directly via email.
Once that’s completed, please let us know here whether your Chromecast devices appear again.
I wanted to follow up regarding my RMA request for the remote switch back to the official Nucleus RoonOS. I replied to the RMA team with the full explanation about the original SSD replacement and also sent a follow-up email, but I haven’t received any response yet.
At the moment, my Nucleus+ is still running on ROCK and fully accessible, and I’m ready whenever the RMA team is available to proceed with the re-flash.
Could you please kindly check the status of my ticket and advise on the next steps?
Please note that our Roon team is not available during weekends. As soon as they are back and have the capacity to review your case, they will provide further updates through your RMA ticket.
Hi Vadim,
Thank you very much for the update and for reinstalling the official Nucleus RoonOS. The installation was completed successfully, and the Nucleus is now up and running without any issues.
However, I would like to inform you that Chromecast devices are still not appearing in Roon, even after the full reinstallation and reboot. AirPlay devices are visible and working, but Chromecast targets remain completely absent.
This issue originally started after switching to a static IP setup for ARC, and it is still persisting now on the fresh official RoonOS installation.
Please let me know what additional checks or steps you would recommend at this stage.
Thank you again for your support.
Best regards, Burak Sinandurç
Sorry to hear you’re still having chromecast issues!
As a next step, can you review your router settings and disable IGMP snooping temporarily - then see if you’re able to discover your chromecast devices?
Are you able to hardwire your Chromecast device directly to your primary router at the same time as your Nucleus?
And if you havent yet - since you recently switched to a static IP for ARC, try switching back to DHCP temporarily to see if something about the static configuration (gateway, subnet mask, DHCP vs static) is interfering with multicast or mDNS discovery.
Unfortunately, I’m unable to find any IGMP or multicast-related settings in my router interface. My modem is a Huawei Superonline device, and these options don’t appear to be user-accessible.
I also tried connecting the TV directly to the modem via Ethernet cable, but unfortunately Roon still does not detect the Chromecast device. At the moment, only AirPlay is available and working.
Thank you for the update and for trying the previous steps.
Based on your description, the situation is becoming clearer. Huawei-branded ISP routers (including Superonline models) are well-known for locking down multicast and mDNS settings, and in many units IGMP Snooping, IGMP Proxy, and Multicast Routing are either:
permanently enabled,
permanently disabled,
or handled internally with no user control.
Unfortunately, Chromecast discovery in Roon relies entirely on multicast traffic. If the router blocks or isolates that traffic, Roon will not be able to see any Chromecast targets, even though AirPlay may still work.
At this point, the most likely cause is:
Your ISP-supplied Huawei router is filtering or suppressing the multicast traffic required for Chromecast discovery, and because these settings are not exposed to the user, it cannot be corrected from the interface.
Problem persists even with the Chromecast device wired directly to the router
No IGMP controls available in router UI
Issue started after topology changes (static IP / routing adjustments)
Recommended next steps:
1. Bypass the Huawei router if possible
If your ISP allows it, place the Huawei modem into Bridge mode and connect a dedicated consumer router (ASUS, TP-Link, Ubiquiti, etc.) to handle all LAN traffic.
These devices expose the multicast/IGMP controls required for Chromecast.
2. If bridge mode is not allowed
You can connect a secondary router in Access Point mode behind the Huawei, and move both the Nucleus and Chromecast devices onto that AP’s LAN.
This often restores proper multicast behavior even when the ISP router cannot be modified.
3. Optional test
If you have access to any mobile hotspot or secondary router, try connecting both Nucleus and Chromecast into that temporary network.
If Chromecast appears there, it confirms 100% that the Huawei router is the limiting factor.
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation and for confirming the root cause of the issue. I really appreciate all the time and effort you and the team have spent on this.
For now, I prefer to keep my current setup as it is, since **Roon ARC remote access is more important for my daily use than Chromecast. I may revisit the router solution in the future if I decide to restore Chromecast functionality.
