According to sources and my past soundbar, Chromecast can send 96/24 without any issues. I dont get why with the Hekla, Im not getting past 48/24 without downsampling.
There aren’t any MUSE filters active at all. It is just plain straight Chromecast.
Are there any settings that I should change on Google Home? Which I dont use btw…

48 kHz is the maximum for Chromecast unless a HighRes flag is set and reported by the playback device. Then Roon supports 96 kHz for that Chromecast endpoint. Your device doesn’t seem to support that HighRes flag as you only get 48 kHz.

This is a question for Focal as manufacturer of your Mu-So Hekla but as a multichannel device it is probably not supported. Google only officially supported that flag for the ChromeCast Audio, a 2.0 stereo device. All the other video and multichannel capable devices only support 48 kHz. See also:

To clarify why this is happening with your new equipment:
The Chromecast Protocol Limit By default, the Google Cast protocol caps audio streams at 24-bit/48kHz for video and multi-channel hardware. Roon queries the device upon connection, and if the endpoint does not explicitly report a “High-Res” flag, Roon must downsample the stream to 48kHz to ensure playback does not fail.
The High-Res Flag To accept 24-bit/96kHz streams via Chromecast, the device manufacturer must explicitly enable the High-Res flag within the device’s internal Cast firmware. Your previous Ambeo Max had this flag enabled by Sennheiser. Currently, the Mu-So Hekla is not reporting this capability to Roon.
Next Steps Because this is a firmware-level limitation set by the manufacturer, there are no settings within Google Home or Roon that can override it or force a higher sample rate. The best path forward is to contact Focal/Naim support directly and request that they enable the High-Res Chromecast flag in a future firmware update for the Hekla.

Just spoke with Focal’s tech service. They insisted that chromecast streams at 24/96 and showed them via two screenshots that beyond 48, everything gets downsampled. After sending the info and the post from Vadim, they agreed there was an issue.
They are sending the info to the hekla devs for them to take action on this.
Also, no Roon Ready certification on the horizon…
