This device was connected previously and worked fine. I had to do a reset on the speaker to connect to a different wifi network. I think it had a different name before. Is there something I can do to clear any previous name stored in Roon, if that’s what the issue is?
I tried quitting Roon Core and Roon Remote and rebooting the speaker. Then starting Roon Core again. Same problem.
The speaker makes a connection sound when I click on “Enable” but I cannot then set it up in Roon. It just stays on the Audio screen with the same “Enable” button.
Today I disconnected my Spectrum coax internet and installed Verizon fiber optic. New modem, router, wifi name, etc. The situation is much worse than the first problem I identified with my JBL Portable Link speaker. No problems discovered thus far other than Roon.
Three problems: Roon cannot enable Chromecast endpoints, Roon cannot cast to already enabled Chromecast endpoints and my Android phone and tablet will no longer connect to Roon server.
My two WiiM endpoints work fine using RAAT. However, Roon has stopped working with my JBL and two WiiM devices through Chromecast. The WiiM devices show as “Enabled” for Chromecast but I get the error message “Audio device refused to switch input to Roon” when I try to use that.
The Qobuz app works fine connecting to those devices through Chromecast. That, and the WiiM devices working through RAAT, show everything is connected through the same network.
On top of all that, now my Android phone and Android tablet will not connect to the Roon server. My laptop is connected to the router via ethernet and Roon Remote works fine that way. Again, I can use those Android devices with Chromecast with other apps.
Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report! We’d be happy to take a closer look at things, if you could please bring your server back online, we’ll enable diagnostics to review a fresh diagnostic report.
With that, we’ll also need a bit more information around your network setup and how your devices are connected to your router. A general good next step in troubleshooting connectivity-related issues would be to set up a direct, hardwire ethernet conneciton between your Roon Server, endpoints, and primary router. Temporarily bypass all additional network gear in the meantime, and see how things perform.
Thanks for your help. I think I resolved the issue. There were probably multiple factors and I had my primary focus on a printer that wouldn’t connect to the new router. After changing various settings I got the printer working, which also seems to have solved the Roon/Chromecast issue. I’m not sure exactly which change fixed that.
My laptop running Roon Core and my WiiM Ultra were connected by ethernet. Wifi was set to off on the laptop. My WiiM Sound and JBL Link Portable were connected through wifi.
It does seem odd to me that both WiiM devices worked fine running RAAT, Chromecast worked fine with Qobuz and Spotify, but Roon couldn’t enable Chromecast devices that were identified in audio settings.
I’m at my other home right now on a different network so I can’t fool around and run tests. I also don’t want to mess around with what seems to be working now.
