Chromecast streaming multichannel

Hello,

I have been searching in various posts and sites, but I have not been able to have a clear answer on these 2 questions:

Can I stream multichannel audio through a “Chromecast with Google TV” device to an AV receiver?
Flac 5.1 files for instance. And if so, do I have limitations on sample rate etc?

Can I stream multichannel audio through a “NVIDIA Shield” device?
Would it be by Chromecast protocol only or by other protocols?

Any direct experience with these devices?

Thanks for help!
Tito

I think the only link between the Roon core and receiver that will play Multi-channel files is via the HDMI connection.

yes, of course via HDMI, forgot to mention.

You can’t set (in Roon) multichannel for the chromecast.
Also take a look under Supported Media for Google Cast  |  Google Developers for supported formats and you’ll see, that only DD(+) as multichannel audio format has a pass through…
