Clarification - Desktop - Roonserver with NAS (QNAP) & portfowarding

Hi, to clarify.
My roon server is connected with portforwarding and configured with arc at home.
I can remote listen to roon over my phone.

But how can i accomplish this goal on my windows desktop from remote.
There must be a way to connect to my computer Roon client to the remote Roon Server.
The roon desktop client expects to have the roon server connected to the same network.

Hi @Bart_Windels and welcome to the forum.

That (mobile use) is the use case Roon ARC was designed for and why it is consequently available for mobile OS (Android / iOS) only.

You can use a VPN to connect a remote device to your private network as it were part of it (without routing). Additional work may be necessary to make it all work and play nice with Roon and multicast. Sadly there is no support (currently) for Roon and VPN (only Roon ARC and VPN). You can use other users findings if you want to go down the VPN route with Roon. You can find those in the Tinkering section of the forum.

Hello @Bart_Windels ,

Welcome to the forum! ARC was specifically designed for out-of-home access as @BlackJack mentioned. Other users have gotten the regular Roon app via VPN to work, but this is outside the scope of Roon support. One simple and free solution you may want to try to tinker with is Tailscale, but otherwise, I would recommend making a post in Tinkering or doing a search there. Hope this helps!
