This support ticket UI REALLY leaves a lot to be desired. And it is near impossible to edit the HTML easily once a post is made. Adding the actual ticket content here:

Roon Arc Android app notes

  1. Roon Arc occasionally gets confused and shows the wrong album art for songs, usually happens for Qobuz tracks (when they work)
  2. For You screen in android auto shows the same 5 options every time i see it, and when i click on them nothing plays. This might be related to my Qobuz playback issues, not sure. Recommend showing “recently added to library” items here
  3. I swear something is causing my eq preset for android auto to change, occasionally ill think “something is off” so i start digging into settings and i’m on a older backup of my EQ (I datecode the backups but the main has no date, so its easy to tell). I think this might be tied to roon server updates but i’m still keeping an eye out.
  4. [Feature Request] Please consider adding a nav bar based UI like the full roon app, as of now Arc is the only music app I have that doesn’t natively support folding phones.

Roon Android app notes

  1. Multitask swipe gesture (swiping along the middle bottom of the device to go to another app) on now playing screen always interacts with the seek bar on inside screen of Fold 7 (presumably other foldables). This used to impact playback (seeking), recently there is a new bug where the progress bar moves according to your swipe, playback is not affected (It doesn’t seek), but the progress bar stops moving/working. Songs will play but it is stuck. This persists across song changes and only fixes with a restart of the app.
  2. [Feature Request] Move “remove from queue” to top of 3 dot menu with add to library and add to playlist buttons, make that row horizontally scrollable if need be, but having to scroll down that menu to remove from playlist is tedious
  3. [Feature Request] A bit out there, but a log interface for hours played per endpoint, with the option to record points on a timeline which can be labeled for hardware changes, like tubes for example. Can use this to track how old specific tubes are. Pie in the sky but never know.
  4. The app is getting buggier on android overall. I can’t quite nail down how its happening but i am getting stuck in the now playing screen, where the top left back arrow won’t bring me to another menu. This actually persists on app restart which is wild. To get out of it i have to hit the artist name to bring up their page, then i can start moving around again.
  5. Speaking of general bugs, whenever i search there is a visual glitch on my phone (see second attached picture. This happens when i have an active search in tablet mode, with suggestions being shown, then i close the phone to resume on the front display.
  6. There is another visual glitch with search when only using the front display. It’s hard to grab a screenshot of because it fixes when the keyboard goes away, but with the keyboard shown, the top of the app drops down as if to show the status bar, but it is black. Sometimes a misformatted text box shows up mirroring the text in the search box. Attached a photo showing an instance of the weird text box for search on the main post.
  7. I am now having random songs from Qobuz not play at home, via the main roon app. One example is “Great Gig in the Sky” by Dark Side of the Moon. Rest of the album played for me last night, but for that one song i need to switch to Tidal. I’m seeing this sporadically now across different albums. Some albums have more than one song that won’t play. I see now after posting that this is being reported in other threads, but its getting more prevalent!

Roon + Server Notes

  1. I keep running into a bug with Sonos devices, specifically Move 2 in stereo via Sonos Streaming and NOT airplay, where seeking around in a track occasionally causes audio to stop coming from the speakers, but the app says the song is still playing, with the progress bar not moving. When this happens, the entire roon server locks up, i can’t pause that zone or play music on any other zone. The only fix for this is restarting roon server.

This is not to say improvements aren’t being made, I understand the app is complicated to work on. I am grateful the team fixed the weird hanging issue when the roon app is started in one state (folded or unfolded), then is resumed from the other state. I figured i would post this so the team could take a look at issues which they may not be aware of.

Hopefully me making a aggregate post is better than a bunch of individual posts.

Visual glitches in the minimized state of Arc are quite common, with the app being stuck in this halfway state, or with the progress bar dancing back and forth (as if still loading, but its actually playing). Arc on android seems particularly buggy compared to the iOS counterpart.

Speaking of the android auto app specifically…

  1. It is really hard to find anything that isn’t already on the home screen. I get that distractions should be avoided, but maybe add a ‘quick jump to’ button in the album and artists screens? Which let’s you jump to a letter category of your library. This is possible in the CarPlay arc app, but as far as I can tell isn’t in android auto.
  2. Please please PLEASE add an option to sort playlists alphabetically. This is diabolical in carplay specifically, I can’t find any rhyme or reason to how they are displayed.

Hello @Mike_Stratton ,

Thank you for taking the time to put all of this together — this is very helpful.

There are a few different items here, so I’d like to separate the issues we can actively investigate from the feature requests we can pass along as product feedback.

For the ARC / Qobuz-related issues:

  • incorrect album art, especially for Qobuz content
  • Android Auto “For You” showing the same few items repeatedly and not playing them
  • random Qobuz tracks not playing, including in the main Roon app

Could you please share a few specific examples for these, ideally with screenshots where possible? For the playback failures, please also include the exact album/track names you see this with.

For the EQ preset behavior in Android Auto, I want to make sure I understand what you are seeing:

  • when this happens, do you actually find that ARC has switched to an older EQ preset in the settings
  • or do the settings still look correct, but playback sounds different as though another preset is being applied?

For the Fold / Android UI issues, a short video would be very helpful here:

  1. Multitask swipe / seek bar issue

Please record a video showing the swipe gesture on the Now Playing screen and the resulting stuck progress bar behavior.

  2. Now Playing screen getting stuck / back arrow not working

If you are able to capture this one as well, please send a short video of the issue and the workaround where tapping the artist page lets you navigate again.

For the search UI glitch on the front display - we have raised an internal ticket since we were able to reproduce it internally and it will be reviewed soon.

For the Qobuz tracks failing to play in the main Roon app, please send approximate timestamps for when this happens, along with a few example tracks besides “Great Gig in the Sky,” so we can correlate the events in diagnostics.

For the Sonos Move 2 / Sonos Streaming issue, where seeking causes playback audio to stop and the whole server becomes unresponsive, please also send an approximate timestamp for the next occurrence. That one sounds particularly important since it appears to affect the entire server until restart.

Separately, the following are feature requests, so please post these in the Feature Requests section of the Community and if those are voted enough it will be reviewed:

  • Android Auto quick jump by letter for albums/artists
  • playlist alphabetical sorting, especially in CarPlay / Android Auto
  • any other navigation or layout improvements for foldables / car interfaces

Once we have the examples, videos, screenshots, and timestamps above, we should be in a much better position to break these into actionable bug reports.

Thanks.
