Composition linking issue

Hi @connor, I tried to strictly use Roon parts in PART (i.e. without movement numbers) but this doesn’t solve the issue.

As I uploaded the files twice, could you please have a look at them and try on your end? If you’re sure about your instructions, then the recording (I insist the “recording” not the album) should be visible in your setup.

Hi @rulbricht,

Did you fully remove the tracks (using library clean-up) before attempting to re-import with the above changes?

We’ve reviewed the tracks you’ve sent over and haven’t been able to reproduce the issue in-house. We’ll discuss things with the development team further, but to set proper expectations, progress around any additional updates or next steps may be slower than usual. Thanks for your continued patience! :folded_hands:

Hi @benjamin, yes I had cleaned the library before reimporting the tracks. Here is a short video summarizing the issue:

Thanks for the update and video @rulbricht - we have a ticket in with development to discuss this further, and we should have more information to share next week.

We appreciate your long-standing patience here! :folded_hands:

Hi @rulbricht,

We just wanted to give you a quick update on your case. We spoke with our developers, and they noted that an unidentified album typically cannot be linked to a composition, so something unusual appears to be happening here.

Our QA team is currently testing to reproduce the issue in-house. Once they are able to do that, we should be in a better position to provide some next steps.

Thanks again for your patience while we investigate.

I find that roon often links unidentified albums to compositions. So I’m not really sure I understand. On occassion I will also deliberately unidentify an album where roon’s interpretation of the composition hierarchy is unnavigable, particularly with Qobuz streamed content. Because there is no composition hierarchy editing possible for streamed content (WORK/PART) a useful work-around is unidentifying as that will usually correct that for streamed content. I rarely find that I cannot then manually identify the composition in those cases.

@daniel I second what @tripleCrotchet just wrote. I have other albums that are not in the database and properly linked to a composition using Roon title. This works in every case.

Hi @tripleCrotchet and @rulbricht,

Thanks for the follow-up! We don’t have any updates to share yet, but the ticket is still in the queue for our development team. :+1:

Feel free to share a few examples and we’ll take a closer look!

Just copy Roon composition title in the WORK field of any albums that rely on WORK/PART… I’m a bit surprised you are not aware of this.

@benjamin any news on this?

Hi @rulbricht,

We don’t have any updates to share - the ticket is still in the queue for further review. As mentioned before, we’ll post an update and tag you directly when there is new information to share.

If the thread closes, we’ll re-open it manually as well. Thank you
