I know it has been asked. But i’ve found only old posts, and no solution or answer.
Basically, the button with the number of a composition recordings does not work properly.
Example: this is the Bach composition in the Glen Gould LP:
But if i follow the link, i find only 2 recordings, and not the GG one!
If i look in the compositions page, and filter, i still see 4 recordings:
I add that as far as i can tell, i have 4 recordings, but 2 of them are not complete. so that’s maybe the reason?
But i cannot see any option to see all recordings, even partial…
thanks… i knew it was somewhere…
but quite hidden…

As far as I understand the distinction whether a recording of a composition qualifies as complete or incomplete is a flag sourced from one of roon´s main metadata sources (TiVo I assume). This one seems to be wrong in a significant number of cases.
So if you use solely local library recordings I would suggest to always disable the ´show only complete recordings´ option. If you add Qobuz or Tidal it gets a little complicated as you tend to be flooded with incomplete recordings as well as high numbers of split tracks listed as recordings in their own right.
seems to me its sad that after what seems like over 3 years of users moaning about this (based on the age of threads I found when trying to fix composition problems in my own library), that Roon haven’t offered one of several options:
-
a way to set a “complete recording” flag manually, to fix local copies without turning off the global setting
-
a more reliable way to treat the metadata centrally so that we don’t need to worry about stuff like this
-
set the option to “off” by default. I wasted about an hour tonight trying to work out why an album I had in my local library just wasn’t showing up when I was looking for a composition. It led me to trawling through these forums to find an answer to the question.
It’s not like Roon is free! we are paying good money for this stuff, and having had it since 2014 I’ve paid quite a bloody lot for it!! It would be nice if I could stop struggling with the data
