Description Of Issue

I am unable to play music to my Windows 10 PC, via any device attached to it: I can’t play to my Schiit Ragnarok, or pick any other audio output device (such as my USB headset).

When I go to the Audio tab in the options for Roon on my PC, I see no options listed for that PC.

I have confirmed that all of the audio devices on this PC are working: I can play sound to them from any other program. I can choose the Ragnarok (shows up as “Schiit USB Multibit” under audio devices) and play music to it via any other program, e.g. Spotify, video games, etc.

I have also confirmed that I can play music via Roon on my network. I also have a Stack Audio Link (Roon ready) on my wifi network, and it shows up under Audio and I can choose it and play music to it over wifi with no problems.

What did I do wrong such that Roon on my PC cannot see any audio devices on that same PC?

Well, I would check your firewall. Try turning it off as a test and see if the audio devices appear. If so, then you need to add Roon RoonServer and Raatserver to the list of approved programs.

Thank you! That was the problem. I had to go into the windows firewall and allow raatserver and roon.exe (somehow the exceptions didn’t get set up properly during installation of roon).
