Configuration advice for Roon with Synology NAS and Cambridge Audio EVO150 (ref#HOLJQ1)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Roon Configuration
I'm setting up a computer with a Synology DS1825+ NAS server. With over 400,000 FLAC files, 300,000 MP3s, several thousand special audio files such as DSD, DFF, DSF, WW, etc., and TIDAL, it will be connected via a 10GB network card to a PC (Windows 11) with:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16 core 32 Thread PCIe 4.0
10GB Network Card: ASUS XG-C1000C
2 xSSD: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB
Memory: Corsair 64 GB - CMW32GX4M2C3200C16
Motherboard: ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO

Everything will be connected to a Cambridge Audio EVO150 amplifier/streamer, wich is some 12 meters fsr from the Server/PC. The Core will be in the PC, unless you tell me otherwise.
There is no option to add a dedicated server. Could you please recommend the best configuration for the entire system to get the most out of it and the highest audio quality? Many thanks

Hi @Agusti_Baillo_Tubau,

Thank you for your post.

As long as this PC has sufficient RAM, you can expect great performance with Windows 11. You will need to enable guest access permissions for third-party NASs by following these steps (Windows 11 disables this by default).

If you wanted to try the NAS as the server, please note you’ll need to setup Roon in a Docker on Synology using these instructions.

In either case, the EVO150 is Roon Ready and will function beautifully as a streamer in this setup. We recommend a hardwire ethernet connection wherever possible, since RAAT’s uncompressed transfer protocols will be more vulnerable to WiFi interference.
