When I hit “start radio” from an artist in my library I only get 30 second clips of songs, is that normal operation? I don’t have any subscriptions set up so maybe that’s it? I was hoping it could just run off just my library, a sort of “smart” shuffle. If I need a subscription then problem solved, if there is a knob to tweak that info would be great
Yes you will need a Roon Subscription, that is why you are just getting 30 seconds samples.
Or do you mean you have a Roon Subscription but don’t have any streaming service subscription yet?
Hey @Jerry_Kilbourne, welcome to Roon and our Community, it’s great to have you with us.
From what you’ve described, it sounds like you may have linked a free or expired TIDAL account. When my synced TIDAL subscription expired, it only played 30-second snippets before advancing to the next track. So you may want to check the status of your TIDAL subscription.
It sounds like you may also have added some music files to Roon. If you’d like to limit Roon Radio to your personal music library, open your music queue and select the three dots button to the right of Roon Radio. That’s where you can limit Roon Radio to just the music you have in Roon.
Roon is absolutely magic with a synced streaming service, however. That’s when you really see what Roon is capable of; I totally recommend it!
Sorry for the confusion. Have roon subscription do not have an active streaming service.
Thanks, although I couldn’t find any roon radio screen as shown in your screenshot I did disconnect my expired Tidal account and now full songs from my library are playing. Life is good
