Confused - Trying to set up a Raspberry pi Nas to access files on a external hard drive

Hi,

Looking for any advice please

I have a ROCK device which I built myself with a NUC8i3BEH, the music files sit on an external hard drive connected to the ROCK via a USB

Using the ROCK has dramatically improved the quality of the music but I can not know access the files directly to amend their metadata (using Media Monley)

So I decided to build a Raspberry pi NAS which is now working fine

Problem is that the USB has only one connection and so I can either have the ROCK or the NAS connected to the external drive but not both ťat the same time which rather defeats the point of having the NAS

Any ideas please?

Did you try going to the files on the ROCK first? The files should be available under the NUC’s storage directory. From a Computer, try going to the ROCK share via \\ROCK\ There you should find a storage folder and under that your external USB drive.

Many Thanks Rugby

No I did not do as you advise - wish I had though as it works fine

Looks like I rather wasted my time with the pi - never mind, might try installing Roon Bridge on the pi to use with my headphones

Grateful for the advice
