Describe the issue

Connection issues & jittery playback

Describe your network setup

Google Mesh Network, 4 hubs, all great, unchanged for a long time.

Hi @Steve_Carter-Hounslo,

Thank you for your post. We’ve requested an automatic diagnostic logging report from the unit in question. However, the Nucleus One appears to be offline. At your convenience, please either a) turn on the Nucleus One and open Roon in a controller to trigger the automatic upload of the report or b) use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

Once we have logs, we should see all unnatural playback stoppage events - and any connection issues - clearly marked. This will help us identify the source of the instability.

Where is the Nucleus connected relative to your mesh topology? Is it hardwired to the main router, or to a hub?

We’ll watch for your response. Thank you!

Hi Connor, it is online, not sure why it’s showing as offline.

I shall follow the directions now and upload.

Thanks

Set up:

Nucleus is ethernet to a wired hub then to the Google mesh.

Im thinking its network related (although the home network has not been changed).
I seem to have the issues when using Chromecast, Airplay (stuff streaming through the air).

Roon seems OK when using direct - Nucleus to Dac to Amp, no issues. Although app can be slow at times, both on my iphone and macbook pro.

Uploaded as requested

Hi @Steve_Carter-Hounslo,
Thanks for uploading the logs. Upon reviewing them I noticed that there were traces of endpoints being lost.

Info: [1] Alert: Transport: playback_error_endpoint_lost

Can you tell us more about how the endpoints you’re using are connected to your network? Are you using ethernet or Wi-Fi?

Also the next time you notice either of these problems can you please let us know the date and time that it happens and the song playing if applicable? That will help us ensure we’re looking in the right section of your logs.

Hi again!

The set up: -

Denon X4700 at the heart and used for home cinema and 2 channel analogue for music.
Music is Tidal via Roon (ethernet direct to a Google hub), which goes through Eversolo Z8 DAC (USB A from Roon) to Denon (RCA) - this seems to be working perfectly now.

Many other items into the Denon
LG C4 TV via eARC (wifi) and used for either easy Tidal using the app in the TV or the built in Chromecast (where I mostly get the issues) sent from iPhone or Mac.
iPhone using Roon/Tidal (wifi) to select speaker, inc TV via Chromecast.
Many Google speakers, (all wifi)

I also use Macbook Pro (wifi) (old, late 2013 but still going strong!) and Roon app, like the iPhone (13 Pro), the app is really slow at times, message about ‘waiting for Roon’ ‘something wrong’ can also get the jittery playback (Chromecast) at this time.

Google mesh Wifi, 4 hubs. All IP addresses are pinned to each device.

No particular song.

Thought I would give you everything!

Hi @Steve_Carter-Hounslo,

This does point to potential network throttling occurring within your local setup. If you hardwire your other chromecast / airplay devices, do you still see the error?

If you can, I’d also update to the latest Roon version - 1528, and see if that helps as well. :+1:
