What happens if you press the "Select a different Roon Server" button?
· I don't see Roon Server.
Please try to restart your Roon Server by closing the Roon app in the taskbar or rebooting your Roon Server machine.
· No, the issue remains the same
Please try to restart your network setup by unplugging, waiting 30 seconds and then replugging in your networking gear.
· No, the issue remains the same
Please select how you've connected your Roon Server to the internet
· Roon Server is connected by *Ethernet*
Have you checked your firewall settings to ensure that Roon is allowed through?
· Roon still won't connect even after checking this aspect
Have you verified that Roon Server is on the same subnet as your Remotes?
· My Remotes and Server are on the same subnet and I still can't connect
Sometimes the issues can be resolved with a reinstall of your Roon Remote app. Let's try to perform a reinstall and see if it helps.
· I've reinstalled the Roon Remote but it did not help
What is the operating system of your Roon Server host machine?
· *Windows*
Select any of the following components that are present in your local network setup

You mentioned powerline adapters in your network setup.
· I still can't see Roon Server even after bypassing powerline adatapter
Describe the issue
After weeklong analysis of the problem, I have identified the following problem: During the last third of the last track of a given album, all remotes lose connectivity to the server. The track continues playing until the end, but it is not possible anymore to control the server. This behaviour is especially true and by far most annoying when playing playlists that consist of titles from different albums, as apparently each track is considered „last track“ and thus connection to the server is lost. Quitting roon on the server‘s user interface (Windows - task bar) and restarting it solves the problem. This is however massively inconvenient. A reliable connectivity remote-server, as was always the case until a few weeks ago, would be highly desireable.
Thanks for writing in and welcome to the community!
Could you provide a more specific date, time, and name of track playing when you experience the issue? With that, could you please use the directions found here and send over a set of Roon Server logs to our File Uploader?
It would also be helpful to have a better overall understanding of your network framework, and how your Roon Server is connected to your router. If you can, get a direct ethernet connection setup and let me know how things perform!
thank you for your fast reply. I have uploaded the logs with the file being named „Jonathan_Birkenhaeger.zip“.
The problem arises at any time and when playing any track. Also, today I experienced a loss of connectivity while playing an album (Ancestors - Of Sound Mind) and not even having reached the final track. One common theme though seems to be that the remote will always show the track having played about two thirds, although it actually has finished. Then, connectivity is lost and can only be regained by quitting and restarting roon. Sometimes, even this does not help immediately and needs to be repeated.
My network uses a FritzBox 6690cable, an iPad and a Samsung phone as remotes, and an audiodata MS II used as server, connected via PowerLan and Ethernet cables.
One example of loss of connectivity: 15/01/2025 at about 17:25 CET playing Ancestors - Bounty Of Age.
If possible, can you please continue to bypass the powerline adapter while we continue to troubleshoot? Is there any additional network gear in between your server and router?
Can you also attempt to reproduce the issue when playing audio only to the system output of one of your remote devices?
unfortunately I will be away from home for a few days and therefore I am currently unable to try to bypass the powerline. However, this was the setup from the early days of my roon experience and has always worked until recently.
Also, I tried to play audio through my remote devices, but in both of them the output selector „this device“ has disappeared already quite some time ago (months… maybe a year).
When trying to enable „System Output“ in the „Audio“ settings, it says „Device not found“.
So, sorry to say, both your requests cannot be fulfilled presently.
Also, to answer your other question, there is no other network gear between my server and router.
another thing: I am now able to play audio through the output of the remotes (for some reason unknown to me, the output option „this device“ reappeared…) directly.
I was not able to reproduce the issue when playing audio through the remote‘s output. In that case, everything seems to work well.
I have rebooted the server many times, and also I have rebooted (and updated) my router now. All to no avail, the problem persists.
However, I was able to further refine the occurences when the problem arises:
Connectivity from the remotes to the server is lost during the last track of any (so far: ANY, specific artist/track seems to be irrelevant) album, as long as the source of the music is TIDAL.
Tracks/albums that are stored directly on the server don‘t seem to lead to that behaviour, at least not as often.
I hope that helps…
We’ll still need you to test out removing the powerline adapter please, thank you!
With that, can you please share a screenshot of your Roon Settings>Services>Tidal>Edit pop up? Have you recently logged out and resynced your Tidal account with Roon? Please do so.
Let’s also refresh your RAATServer database to see if will help repopulate your system output:
You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:
Okay let us know if that makes a difference. If it doesn’t improve the connectivity loss can you let us know which track was last playing when the loos of connection occurs?
just to let you know: after the last server and app updates a few days ago, the problem no longer exists (so far…). It seems my setup with the KEF LSX was impacting the reliabilty.
