Connnecting Micro Juke Box

Hi All,
I am recently bought a Green Computer company MicroJukebox which I am using as a NAS with my Linn Akurate DS streamer and Roon Nucleus. I connected the Juke Box to my router and configured it per its directions, but my Nucleus is not seeing it. Pardon the incredibly simple question, but do I have to connect the Juke Box to the Nucleus? Or are they supposed to communicate through the network? (My streamer does not have a digital input). Thanks for your help.

Hey @Michael_Pomerantz — Thanks for reaching out to us!

How are you trying to connect to the MicroJukebox? Are you receiving any error messages?

We have a great article about setting up up a networked watched folder. I definitely recommend checking that out!

Thanks,
Dylan

I connected the jukebox to my router. Do I need to hardware it to the Nucleus ? My streamer does not have digital input.

No error message; just no recognition of the jukebox.

Thanks
Mike

You should not need to connect the MicroJukebox and the Nucleus together physically. So long as they are both connected to the same network (e.g., via your router), they should be accessible to each other.

Apologies if you already know this, but when it comes to network shares, Roon won’t just automagically find and access them. You need to explicitly configure it to point at the server share.

Have you gone into the Storage settings in Roon and clicked the ‘Add Network Share’ button in the lower-left corner of the ‘Add folder’ dialog? You will then need to know the name of the MicroJukebox (I assume you can get this out of its own settings menus) and the username and password to connect to it (again, this would be something the MicroJukebox documentation should help with), plus the share name it is exporting (again, should come from the documentation or internal settings). Then follow Dylan’s knowledge base article for completing setup of the network share in Roon.

Hey @Michael_Pomerantz,

To echo what @cwichura said above — You do not need to directly connect the MicroJukebox to the Core machine. The Core machine can access the music files that exist on the MicroJukebox over the network.

You’ll need to add the folder from the MicroJukebox that contains the music you want to add to Roon. The article I previously shared contains some great information about how to add the watched folder.

Go ahead and try to add the folder from the MicroJukebox (you can do this by going to Settings > Storage) in Roon and let me know if you have any issues!

Regards,
Dylan
