Considering Linn K40 Loudspeaker Cable

We have relocated from the UK to Wroclaw, Poland.

As a consequence, our Hi-Fi, as below, is in temporary storage whilst our new house is being built.

  • Linn Selekt Edition;
  • 2x Stereo Power out Cartridges;
  • 2x Organik DACs
    • Linn 119 Loudspeakers (Active mode)
    • Kudos KS-1 Loudspeaker Cable (two runs)

Prior to relocating we changed the loudspeakers from Kudos Titan 606 to the Linn 119 as we wanted the new listening area to look less Hi-Fi. This will be our new living room but we want a more discrete system and we’re now looking at changing the speaker cables.

As mentioned above, we have two runs of KS-1 which we had with the 606s as this made sense at the time. One option we’re considering is getting some Linn K40 loudspeaker cable which is a single four core cable for two reasons;

  • Keeping the system 100% Linn
  • Tidying up the aesthetics.

Has anyone got experience of using the K40 and what are your thoughts.

Finally, is there another brand of a four core loudspeaker cable for bi-amping that could be considered.

DG…

It seems K40 is around £20/metre in the UK. For 2mm² main conductors and 1.2mm diameter (1.1mm²) “treble” conductors, it’s a total rip off.

You’ll get much better value from a Van Damme 4-core or the likes of Canare 4S11.

Beware your guarantees !!

20 yrs ago prior to emigrating, I traded in (at a local hi fi shop) my LP12 for a Karik CD player. On arriving in South Africa with my less than one year old Karik I sought out the Linn agent just n case. I was told my Linn guarantee was worthless.

I complained and was told by Linn Management that I should have realised that before I bought it

I was less than happy !!
