Controlling multiple zones with Ropieee Touch

I have a Ropieee Touch that’s just a display and control for multiple zones. It is not being used as a Roon endpoint. It’s really cool that we can switch the zones on the Ropieee Touch screen.

However, there’s a usability problem: if the current endpoint is powered off, Ropieee throws up a fullscreen error:

I just want to use Ropieee Touch with a different zone. The workaround is to power on the unwanted endpoint, switch the zone, and then power off the unwanted endpoint. Or reboot the Ropieee Touch to switch to the default zone (in my case, this zone is always on).

Suggestion: since Ropieee Touch already has the ability to switch zones, why not pop up the zone selector instead of a full screen error? Or auto switch to the first available zone? Do we even need to configure a Display Zone in the web UI? Why not just have the user select it on the Ropieee screen?

Thoughts?

it would be useful - I have the same issues at times - also it would be nice to be able to turn the screen off (top right tap on the screen) without needing to power up the DAC that I’ve just turned off

The use-case you described I ran into myself just the other day. So yeah, it’s a usability issue.

I’m not entirely sure here what’s the good solution…
Let me think about this.

Thanks
