Description Of Issue

I initially setup my Roon core on my iMac. I ran it for a couple of weeks before realizing I could run it on my Synology 218+ NAS (which is working great I might add). I had to de-authorize the iMac as a core and authorize the Synology NAS to do so. Once the Synology NAS was working properly, I went back to my iMac to turn it into an endpoint. When launched, it only asked if I wanted to de-authorize the NAS and use it instead. I tried a few things but it wouldn’t change so I deleted the app and reinstalled it. No change. All it wants is to be a core or nothing.

How do I edit or delete the previous core installation on my iMac and turn it into an endpoint so I can control my music and devices…and even plan locally on it?

Hi Chris,

Did you remove the old Core in your library folder when you deleted the software? Try the following to remove the Core and create a fresh install as a remote:

  • Exit out of Roon on the iMac.
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder called “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new Roon folder and start again as a Remote.

Cheers, Greg

That did the trick. Thank you!
