Not sure if the creator is on here … I just discovered this terrific AppleTV app FlipJack that supports Roon:
This looks really cool. But for some reason I cannot find it in the App Store.
You’re looking in the AppleTV App Store? I found it there.
It is cool. I just got it all set up and running. The flippity flaps are so fast that I can’t really see the flap animation, but the overall effect is nifty.
I did look there yesterday and it wasn’t.
Maybe a region thing? I just checked and I can still see it. (Colorado, USA, no vpn)
Maybe, Germany here.
Yes. I checked the AppleTV App Store. As mentioned by @Suedkiez it might be a location thing as I am in Germany as well.
Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for all the great feedback!
Because FlipJack is an Apple TV app, it may only appear in the Apple TV App Store. Here’s the download link:
I’m hoping to release the next version soon. Based on your feedback, a few features I’m considering are sound, flip speed controls, and support for additional countries. What are your thoughts?
Please keep the feedback and photos coming. And if you’re enjoying FlipJack, I’d really appreciate your help spreading the word through ratings, reviews, and telling friends.
~Jeremy
Thanks for the information.
I just checked your link above, but the app is not available on all countries/ geopgraphies.
Hi everyone,
I just submitted and updated version of the app with some exciting new features:
-
Context menu from the tile screen so you can make changes without navigating away
-
Tile flipping sound option with volume control separate from the music
-
Option to change the speed of the tile flipping
Please update the app and let me know your thoughts. I’m particularly interested in the flipping sound.
@Toscana I’m working on getting approval for release in the EU. There are some hoops I have to jump through, but I will let you know when Flapjack is available.e
For info, I’ve moved this topic thread into the Tinkering category of the forum, which is a better fit for this app. Thanks for your understanding.
Installed (Switzerland is not EU) and configured, with the api running on a Raspberry Pi.
Simply AMAZING!
Thanks!
Chapeau! What a lovely piece of work! Runs nicely on an old RPi2 I had available, although I had to fiddle around a bit to get npm/Node.js to install properly, but I think that was my problem rather than yours. At some point, it gets a bit confused with really long titles (but what serious artist would name a track “Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict” anyway ?) The controls for size, speed and sound seem to work exactly as expected. My own feeling is that the refresh probably takes a little too long and is overly ‘flashy’, and I would prefer a simple top-to-bottom wipe (at least as an option amongst others) but that’s probably because I am boring. This is a lovely little gadget, and I shall be unveiling it the next time someone asks me ‘what are we listening to ?’
Thanks for sharing !
FlipJack looks like a nice app, but it requires a driver that is not available for my PC-based server. Any chance of having a PC-hardware solution in the future?
I’m seeing a couple of minor quirks with punctuation.
The Ampersand & is coming out as @
Full stops . are showing as commas ,
So for example I get Echo @ The Bunnymen and R,E,M,
Everything is fine in Roon and on the iPad display. My AppleTV is set up for the UK (where I live)
No plans to do that right now. What would you want to do on the PC, run the FlipJack app while playing music on your PC? Might be easy to convert it to a Mac app.
Thanks. I’ll look into this for the next release.
Good news! FlipJack should be available in Europe now. Please try to download and let me know if you have success.
The app is now available for download in Germany and I was able to get it up and running using a Rapsberry Pi5 to run the bridge. Thanks for the app.
A potential improvement would be to have the bridge integrated with the Roon Integration Manager for easier installation (not sure if this technically feasible),
